Where The Light Grows Cold

After a small two-year break, DIAMORTE are back! The American symphonic metal group formed back in 2006 and have come a long way since then. Following their most recent album "The Red Opera Orchestral Campaign Soundtrack" in 2020, DIAMORTE's brand-new single "Where The Light Goes Cold" features a striking collaboration with the BUDAPEST SCORING ORCHESTRA, which certainly elevates the track to greater heights. The song was released on January 7th, 2022, independently.
The track starts off on rather a spooky note, with the haunting instrumentals really building up tension for the listener, wondering what is to come. The song then leaps into an explosive guitar riff which carries things through until the vocals begin. The male and female vocals really work well together, with the female vocals sounding similar to that of Sharon Den Adel from WITHIN TEMPTATION. The song is very experimental throughout, which gives the listener excitement, not knowing what to expect next.
"Where The Light Goes Cold" is a pleasant and acceptable symphonic metal track, but unfortunately it doesn't blow you away on the first listen. Even though DIAMORTE and THE BUDAPEST SCORING ORCHESTRA's talent is clearly there on both sides, it sadly doesn't compensate with this unmemorable 6-minute song.
