Devilpriest - In Repugnant Adoration album cover

Polish duo DEVILPRIEST is here! Formed in 2015, with two full-length releases under their belt. Releasing their debut, "Devil Inspired Chants", released in 2017, followed suit with their second full-length, "In Repugnant Adoration", released in 2022 via Odium Records.

The first track I like to talk about is the opening piece "Adoration/Shem-ham-forash" on the album, which opens with a church organ introductory -following suit with devilish riffage and rhythms, and a pleasant surprise for those fans of early SLAYER will enjoy the "Raining Blood" drums strikes. Hitting that minute mark, the piece seems to kindle into an aggressive (instrumental/vocal surge) and menacing blackened -Esque doom atmosphere. Following suit with the next song on the topic is the second track, "The Black Milk of Lilith", which continues their hard-hitting aggressive surge from the opening piece consisting of fast, technical, rhythmic guitar/devilish shreds and hard-hitting drum strikes and fierce growls.

The next track up for discussion is the third track, "The Eye of Set", which showcases the listener's ears with its raw and aggressive attitude. At the same time, listening and analysing this Occult Black Death act, DEVILPRIEST, trying to single out a track to discuss was hard - that each track has its own identity and is met with a satisfying blend of injecting DNA of both black and death metal within its musical spectrum consisting of a tight-knit devilmanship, musicianship, and showmanship which delivers and provides the listener with guitar work, that's technical/complex and gives each piece a powerhouse performance with the six-string cruel-devilish rhythms/shreds, full throttle rhythmic aural battering drum strikes and vocal work consisting of death growls and ice-cold screams -all folded in raw and brutal-art of the darkness of solid production and clear sound. Even the artwork is a gateway to the music-as one listens to/follows the lyrics and music, try to visualise. Use the front cover to widen your vision... When the gate begins to open, you will see the source of your inherent darkness in the distance.

In my opinion, "In Repugnant Adoration" is a chaotic, progressive-fast, technical, rhythmic black/death metal with its modern and polished production and sound, as mentioned before -keeping it brutal, hellish and raw. If you like your music raw and chaotic and lyrics covering the theme of Occult and Satanic, well, DEVILPRIEST is for you; with its raw and chaotic atmosphere that pours out of the listener's speakers and eardrums -where one will find no caressing melodies, no symphonic inserts, no melodic vocals/sections within its thirty-eight minutes - once on DEVILPRIEST devilish path there no turning back!<
