Demoraliser - A Living Nightmare album cover

Metalcore has become one of those genres that just has to ask for criticism and I can clearly see why. Being a huge fan of the genre I'll admit it's repetitive and not always interesting, especially with all those new mainstream bands out there. It seems bands just copy each other and the ones sounding great are the ones doing their own thing and sadly, DEMORALISER is not one of those bands.

"A Living Nightmare" adds nothing new to the chemical pool that's overflowing with the same formula, but that doesn't mean it's bad. It has all the elements a regular Metalcore listener is looking for, and it will not disappoint anyone that's into the sound bands like ASKING ALEXANDRIA and RESIST THE THOUGHT are produced.

The first half of the album is a wide and inviting chugfest. It's heavy, melodic, and the vocals are pretty alright. I especially loved the first 2 tracks, "Pretender" and "A Living Nightmare". The second half is the same exact thing, with the only songs standing out being "Eye to Eye" and the earth shattering "Mother's Ruin". Breakdowns are heavy, riffs are decent, drums are alright, and moreover, the album manages to keep you entertained. However, it's nothing. But keep in mind, the production quality is beyond great for a Metalcore album.

Surprisingly, that's all there is to talk about. I'm done. I've heard this sound being repeated a lot, that I just can't repeat myself for the hundredth time. If you want a heavy Metalcore album, go ahead and grab a copy of this when it comes out in a short time, but if you're gonna complain that it's nothing new, then get used to it, bands in this genre are rarely creative. And that's coming from a big fan of the genre.
