The Monolithic Cult of Death
Deamonolith

We dive deep into the world of Polish metal, where the scene is so vibrant in a great many genres of metal. From the heart of Warsaw metal comes a new group. Though despite having love for all things death and loud blaring guitars, not much other than big acts or the odd local show can be said to take the stages in regards to the more extremes of metal. But this hasn't stopped bands from taking form and launching their assault on the world.
A bit late to the party due to some health issues and a few projects that took over, but we are talking about DEAMONOLITH with their debut full-length album “The Monolithic Cult of Death”. An aggressive project of pure Death Metal that has been drenched in the vile depths of Grind and creates a dynamic putrid blast of rawness with a coating of thick brutality. Having recently formed within the year of 2022, DEAMONOLITH got to work on their abomination and released “The Monolithic Cult of Death” under the banner of Godz ov War Productions on October 18th, 2024. With abstract concepts of the darkness and death being the focus, the album hits for a solid 35:10. So let's dive in.
Shade of saturated tope depicting a strange image, as if carved out of sandstone. A carved orb with strange symbols and hieroglyphs can be seen etched into the surface with a few large cracks that run through it. Demons seem to be attracted to the orb and surround it which makes up the main bulk of the image. The logo sits upper right with a lighter tone of tope, while at the bottom right, sits the album name, just at the very bottom in a simple black font. In depth and powerful image for the album art and I dig it.
Opening the album, we have a haunting ambience that breaks way into a classical piano that rings out over a dark aired atmospheric build up. This carries on for a bit as the guitars and a steady drum roll builds up, as if coming closer from the depths of some hollow space. A solid start. The thick chugging builds and the atmospheric element intensifies before the brutal vocals coat the chord progression. “The Afterfall” hits hard and opens the album off perfectly.
"The Fall, the Reek & Forlornness" begins with a raw intensity of Deathgrind that builds into some pleasant melodics and technicality. The chaos breaks into a very interesting chord progression that plays under a darker but slower element. Quite experimental in a way and executed amazingly. The slow tones break into the standard death riffs with a heavy chugging. The vocals play quite a bit here and though are a bit raspy, are otherwise clean. The Technical Death picks up here and carries a decent melodic element as well. Really well done track. The tones and timing all fit so well.
I have to admit, this album is unique and holds a darker element to it. With experimental fusions of Deathgrind that plays with technical and melodic death and complex time signatures, this album is amazing. The atmospheric build ups, the intensity of the raw chaos and thick brutality all combined to make an amazing album. The mix is done well also, which makes the album pleasant to listen to and to be honest this has become one of my personal favorites.
The closing track “When All Has Been Done” is another example of the fusions and complexity that is DEAMONOLITH. The intense DeathGrind build up that takes you into madness that leads you deeper into chaotic riffs that only keeps building. The vocals sit well here and only add to the brutal chaos. Before you know it we lead into a technical and progressive delicious chord progression that just resonates and synergises so beautifully. The ending is yet another treat as it brings it right down.
If you love Death, Deathgrind and the Progressive experimental elements of metal. You need this album. It is a solid album with very intricate elements and synergized time switch ups. I personally enjoyed it and consider this to be one of my latest favorite albums. Go get yourself a copy and thank me later.
