Death Metal was born in the first half of the 80's, and one can say precisely who is the creator. Everyone knows that the genre evolved from a mix of aspects of Thrash Metal with a clear influence from Hardcore and even from MOTÖRHEAD (a huge influence on those days), and that the Second Wave of the genre came from many different countries, as USA, Sweden and England (there were many more, but these countries were the epicenters of the invasion of the late years of the 80's), and the schools created different sets of features that are linked to their own countries. This is the reason that anyone who hear "Night Terrors" will understand clearly that DEAD SUN comes from Sweden.

The band's musical work can be labeled as a classic format of Swedish Death Metal, but with some influences from early Melodic Death Metal. And as a brainchild from Rogga Johansson (the same one that plays on MASSACRE, METAL AGAINST CORONAVIRUS, and many others), the unexpected can be expected in many moments (as the keyboards and melodies touches on "Night Terrors"), as the songs give the feeling of an honest and spontaneity to any listener. And the energy and weight of the album is truly amazing.

Håkan Stuvemark is the one who worked on the mixing and mastering of "Night Terrors" (obviously, Rogga produced the album), and the result is a sound quality that keeps the musical aggressiveness and brutality, but allows the songs to be expressed in a clean and defined way. Yes, the final result can be said as a blend between the natural aggressiveness of the genre with the clean sound from the modern techs.

The eight songs of the album are all very good and easy to be assimilated by the listeners. But for a first time on "Night Terrors", the best ones are "Like Rain" (a very good set of contrasts between aggressive parts with good melodies, and what very good guitars), "Night Terrors" (a very good technical work can be heard on bass guitar and drums, along with some charming melodies enhanced by keyboards parts), "Worlds" (that presents the same features from the previous song, with charming melodic riffs and very good grunts), "Nectar of the Gods" (a strong influence from Heavy/Power Metal can be heard on the melodies), and "The Doomed". But it's not simple to leave one or another song out of the 'best ones list'.

So, all that's left to say about DEAD SUN's work is that it's really great. So listen to "Night Terrors" loud and enjoy!
