Process of Elimination

Dead Heat

I like is that the songs will have you thrashing around at some times, moshing the room when needed and headbanging until your neck snaps the rest of the time. Oh, and if you have a chandelier, who knows, you might feel the need to using it to swing about like Tarzan does.

DEAD HEAT is a Hardcore/Crossover/Thrash Metal band from Oxnard in California. The band has been invading peoples lives since 2016, which has resulted in two studio albums ("Certain Death" in 2019 and "World At War" in 2021), one live album ("Live At Studio F12" in 2019) an EP ("Endless Torment" in 2023) and a split ("Mindforce/Dead Heat" in 2017) up to just a short while ago. The reason being the release of the third full-length album on 10 October 2025, named "Process of Elimination". Seeing where the band is from it is easy to suggest or expect them to be able to do a good job at filling in the musical side of things. And I'll be frank; DEAD HEAT has succeeded. Just how well I think they did that can be determined in this review. There is absolutely no doubt as to the musical intentions of what DEAD HEAT stands for once "Process of Elimination" starts spilling out of your speakers. This is hard hitting stuff that will go straight to your gut, that will grab you by the throat and only let go after you've gone through the whole 36:26 minutes that has you attempting to survive this Hardcore/Crossover/Thrash Metal onslaught. The thing is, the music might be quite intense, but it gives you an even more suppressing feeling when the vocals of Chris Ramos set in, as he sounds like a raving maniac let loose without his handlers whilst being high on very dangerous drugs. And I honestly have to admit that it does the sound of DEAD HEAT a world of good. What I also like is that the songs will have you thrashing around at some times, moshing the room when needed and headbanging until your neck snaps the rest of the time. Oh, and if you have a chandelier, who knows, you might feel the need to using it to swing about like Tarzan does. There is something very addictive in what DEAD HEAT does that makes you look past the imperfections, that has you in a very positive mood. In that respect you just can't fault "Process of Elimination". But be warned, this is not the best Hardcore/Crossover/Thrash Metal I have ever heard, but DEAD HEAT is one band to be reckoned with. I feel that if it hasn't thus far, "Process of Elimination" might be capable to put DEAD HEAT on the map of the right fans. I know it has done just that for me.
