The World Was Never Enough
Days Of Jupiter
Some time in the past, the conception that Death Metal was the Metal genre that was the most able to adapt to new situations and outfits to survive, but the mix between Hard Rock and Heavy Metal is surpassing the first, because many bands are breathing new life and using new elements on it, without losing its natural melodic features. Such aspect can be saw on “The World Was Never Enough”, the new album of the Swedish quintet DAYS OF JUPITER. Peo Hedin along with Robert Hilli produced, mixed and mastered the album (that was recorded at Orange Monkey Studio in Sweden), and the result is a modern, heavy and abrasive sonority (due the tunes used on the guitars), but that’s defined and allows everyone to fully understand what’s being explained.
And what very good artwork for the cover! The band is famous for its melodic crossing between Hard Rock and Heavy Metal, and here they are with a modern outfit that boosts the aggressive side of their music, that gained tons of weight; on the other hand, they still have all those very good melodies and choruses, using wisely some little bits of accessible traits (what’s clear on “Desolation”). Energy, weight and tons of raw energy with a melodic embodiment is truly a key factor for success, and they show that after 7 years of absence, they’re hungry!
All the songs transpire inspiration and are filled with life and energy, so praise their efforts shown on “Original Sin” (one of the video singles of the album, it’s a song filled with intense riffs and a melodic groove, a charming chorus and excellent vocals), “The World Was Never Enough” (charming chords and keyboards on the beginning, which creates the right ambiences for a bitter and oppressive song that’s filled with modern aggressiveness), “Machine”, “Desolation” (an introspective ballad with layers of emotions being expressed, and the contrasts between pianos and vocals are great, as the clean guitars arrangements are as well), “The Fix” (an oppressive song with a clear melodic appeal, with bass guitar working in a high level), “Parazite”, “My Heaven My Hell” (a melodic and heavy song with charming work on the drums), “Denial” (excellent emotional contrasts, indeed, but always boosted by very good guitars), “Ignite” and “Invincible”. They show that after all their absence, the band is still on fire!
“The World Was Never Enough” is really a very good release, and shows that DAYS OF JUPITER is still alive. Welcome back!!
