Degeneration Chamber
Condition Critical

CONDITION CRITICAL were formed in 2010 and they are from New Jersey. The Thrash Metal band release their third full-length album. “Degeneration Chamber” has a length of about 34 minutes, and it is an independent release. CONDITION CRITICAL start their album with plenty of pace and aggression. The guitar riffing in “Wretched Aggression” is tight, very direct and it comes alongside with crushing basslines. The vocals are harsh and vary between the deep and medium end of the vocal range. There are a few backing vocals during the track and they bring a few crossover vibes to the song. The break introduces a contributing lead guitar solo and towards the end, the track slows down to a measured tempo with thunderous guitar riffs. “Deconstructive Horrors” is introduced by a guitar-driven mid-tempo part leading into a fast verse part with punishing riffs. There is plenty of aggression and intensity in the track. While the verse parts are fast and furious, the choruses are mid-tempo part with powerful guitar riffs. The highlight of the track is the cool lead guitar solo. “Cranial Dissolution” continues with the Thrash Metal assault at blistering pace. The track is driven by strong basslines. A few backing vocals are added to the track and provide a few different vibes. The guitar riffing is tight and traditional Thrash Metal riffing. There are a few tempo switches during the track and there are two lead guitar solos, both offer an additional layer to the track. “Cranial Dissolution” is one of the album highlights.
“Hydrophonic Mutation” keeps going with the pace, aggression, and intensity. The guitar riffing is devastating and accompanied by a lot of double-bass drumming. There are tempo switches throughout the track, in particular the tempo abruptly slows down during the bridge. The extended lead guitar solo is once again very contributing and adds something extra to the track. “Postmortem Simulation” starts with powerful guitar riffs and crunching basslines at a measured tempo and a sluggish rhythm. It is an extended instrumental part covering the first third of the track until it transitions into a fast verse part. As for every track, short backing vocals are added, and they are very effective in introducing a bit of crossover to the album. “Psychological Epidemic” is a track at crazy pace, and even though it has some mid-tempo switches, it is arguably the fastest album track. The break is two-parted, the opening part is played at a measured tempo with thunderous riffs, while the second part is played at insane speed for the lead guitar solo.
“Incubation Disposal” has a frantic, blast-beat driven opening. After this introduction, the track transitions into a mid-tempo instrumental part driven by the crushing basslines and the powerful riffs. When the verse part starts, the track switches to crazy pace and tight Thrash Metal riffing. There are tempo switches throughout the track with the tempo slowing down for the bridge and chorus parts. The ultimate highlight of the track is the never-ending lead guitar solo played at insane pace. “Cryonic Intestinal Preservation” is another fast track. Introduced by a short bass solo, the guitar riffing is tight and punishing, accompanied by the strong basslines. Once again, the tempo and rhythms are changing throughout the track, with the verses being the fast parts of the track. “Cryonic Intestinal Preservation” has been released as lyric video, and the YouTube link is provided below. The album finishes with “Excamation” and it starts again with an extended instrumental part driven by the guitars and the bass leading into a fast verse part. The track offers a good summary of the album’s sound including all the vibes that make the Thrash Metal sound of the album diverse. Another excellent lead guitar solo sums up the high quality of “Excamation”.
The third album of CONDITION CRITICAL is a very good one. “Degeneration Chamber” offers aggression, intensity, and pace. Build upon a solid traditional Thrash Metal foundation, all songs offer modern Thrash Metal elements, added complexity in tempo, and a few crossover vibes. Those elements make the sound of the album unique. The album is well produced. CONDITION CRITICAL deliver high quality Thrash Metal and genre fans will be delighted with their new album.
