CHROME DADDY is a New Jersey based Rock N Roll band, featuring members and former members of bands like MARS NEEDS WOMEN, SKID ROW, BAD BISCUT, and OZONE MONDAY.  This is their debut album on Main Man Records, and features ten tracks.  "True Blue Lies" is the opening track.  It's a mid tempo Pop/Hard Rock type of sound, with a southern, bluesy swag.  Vocally, we are mostly hearing a baritone range, with limited upper range notes at times.  The main riff drives the song, and the chorus is extended, as we often hear in this genre.  "30 Days" continues in this vein, with a soft swing.  Here I daresay there is a Country type of influence, peeking into the veil just enough to notice.  "Top of the Mornin'" is another mid-tempo number with a simple riff and chorus.  "Black Trip" begins a bit more prominently, with some more assertiveness.  It has a LINDA RONDSTAT kind of feeling to it, with some Punk elements.  I rather like this song...they did a nice job with this track.  "Driving with your Eyed Closed" is another spirited track, but ultimately falls short in the end.

"It's All Wrong" is another mid-tempo, easy listening number with a big chorus repeated for emphasis, though a bit gaunt overall.  "Stars That Fall" furthers the overall sound on the album. At times, the chords are structured in the way that a Pop/Punk band like GREEN DAY would do, but without the energy and hooks.  They did a decent job on the title track, adding in a bit more focus and bombast.  "Panic in the Needle Park" is the only track with a varied tempo.  This time it is slowed down, almost like a power ballad, but still missing a lot of the punch.  "I Can See" closes out the band's debut album, with an AC/DC type riff, and a raucous attitude.  I feel like if the band could bring this level of devotion to every track, I would have received the album better.  Overall I feel there just isn't enough going on to make this worth your while.  The melodies are too simple, the instrumentation too minimal, and there aren't enough strong hooks to pull you in.  Structurally the blueprint is very plain.  While I would say the songs are very easy to listen to, I found myself being fairly bored in the end.  I think you can quietly pass on this album.
