When people speak about the extreme Metal scene of Poland, obviously names as VADER and BEHEMOTH are the ones that come to mind almost instantly. But to think that their musical ways are the spine of models from the country is not a truth. In reality, the Metal scene there has many forms of extreme Metal expressions, and to show what these words means, a fine example is CHANID's new release, the 4-tracks EP "In Hoc Signo Vinces".

Instead of that impacting and aggressive Death/Black Metal approach that is usual from Polish bands, this quartet prefers a more raw and traditional approach on Black Metal, in the same vein that early bands from Sweden as DISSECTION (but not copying the band). Their music is darkened and shaped by intense melodies in the middle of oppressive tempos and aggressive energy. And it's very good, besides not's perfect. The production follows the same ways of the music: it was done in a way that is near of what was done in the past, but with some improvements that allows their musical work understandable for the sake of the ears of the listeners. But the choice of instrumental tunes lays in the most simple and organic set they could find (what means that the sane drum could be way better).

But musically, the work they show on "In Hoc Signo Vinces" (excellent morbid guitar riffs that creates a darkened ambience), "Luciferian Hesychasm" (very good sad and morbid melodies, along with great snarls from the vocals), and "Enlightenment" (another set of excellent funereal melodies shaping this song, and a very good work from bass guitar and drums can be hear due the rhythmic contrasts) are fine examples that a promising name is arising on Poland. Oh, "Aποκάλυψις" (that means "Apocalypse") is an intro.

For now, "In Hoc Signo Vinces" is a fine release, but their work is going to be great as CHANID evolves and embraces such features.
