CHANGING TYMZ come all the way from Pittsburgh P.A in the United States and have been rocking the scene there hard since the formed back in 2016. This self-titled E.P marks their first release as a band, but a full-length album is also in the works with a release date to be announced. This E.P has a nice mix of some old school metal and hard rock to keep their audience going until then.

The E.P opens with the spoken word intro track "Enlightened Chaos". It opens with a gentle synth wave that comes in. The spoken word has a feel of the state of things in the world in a very poetic way, feels a little Edgar Allen Poe with the way it's written. The EP's first song is then "Stand Up" with a very decent riff and some cool lead guitar work. Very catchy chorus here as well.

Next up we get "My Own Hell". I really liked the lead line that opens the song. The drums and bass are really cool on here too and the vocal harmonies work really well here too. "Emptiness" is next up and throughout this track there is a decent groove that runs through it. The lyrical theme here describes someone's inner torment and the chaos that one's mental health can go through. Musically the riffs and music here on this track reminds me of the Tony Martin era of BLACK SABBATH, particularly the Headless Cross album.

The intro to "Secrets of the Night" really makes you want to bang your head. The bass playing from Bryan McQuade here shines and sort of carries the chorus. It is a pretty good song overall. The last song on the E.P is "Blinded". Here you can hear the tempo picking up and the lead guitar lines really draws you in. It has a big, lift you up chorus that reminds me of something you would sort of hear in an IRON MAIDEN song. There is a section here with both guitar players, Timmy Wysong and Eric Fenton, playing a guitar harmony in the style of a guitar solo which is really cool and worth checking out.

CHANGING TYMZ have a very classic metal and hard rock sound and the E.P does give us a taste of things to come. The guitar solos here add another level to the tracks and the vocal harmonies work quite well. Listening to this reminded me a little of DIO and the Tony Martin era of BLACK SABBATH. With this E.P giving us a taste of what CHANGING TYMZ are all about it will makes us wonder about the sound of the new album coming soon and how that will sound. One thing is for certain and that is these songs are designed for a live setting.
