CESSPOOL OF CORRUPTION breathes new life into the tech death genre with their second full length album "Requiems of the Ignominious".  A follow up to their absolute powerhouse of a debut album "Eradication of the Subservient" they continue to bring the blasts and shreds to the masses eviscerating any who dare stand in their path of destruction.  I've had the pleasure of seeing them perform live on several occasions and I can assure you they nail everything on their albums to perfection.

The intro track "Insidious Inheritance" is a fast tempo kick to the face right from the start.  High intensity riffs marked with diminished scale guitar runs conjure up hellish nightmares of abominable proportions.  The mayhem does however relent to bring a broader dynamic range with an exotic sounding melody followed by a driving death metal groove.  Enough can't be said about Brennan Shackleford's astounding drumming and cymbal accents.  During the brief respites of the melodic interlude is when you can really hear his skills shine.  The vocals range from guttural death metal growls to high pitched Black Dahlia style screams.  When you think about the fact that these guys are shredding their instruments while doing vocals it gives you a whole new level of respect for them.

"Disfigurement of Idolization" is my favorite track on the album.  The intro licks are full of techy goodness and it evolves into a syncopated headbanging paroxysm of utter annihilation.  They perfectly contrast the high intensity parts of the song with more rhythmic and catchy sections.  Towards the middle of the song is a chunky breakdown respite but only for a measure or two and then it's back to the fast paced riffage.  Soon after the guitar solo comes in gracefully laid atop an epic harmonic minor backing.  Their guitarist's technical skill is showcased by exquisite neoclassical runs filigreed with some very tasteful sweep picking.
The title track of the album "Requiems of the Ignominious" absolutely slams as well.  For a moment after some chugging riffs Mike Leach's bass comes in solo to lead the band in the sheer chaos that is to follow.  Layered vocals and a held scream really set this song apart from the others and bring the intensity to a fevered pitch. True to form all the high intensity is brought back down into bouncy and pit promoting brutal sections.  At the end of the song the chugs continue on as the solos enter the stage.  These are my favorite solos of theirs to date.  Your mind will be mesmerized as fingers fly across the fretboard to dazzle and disarray.

CESSPOOL OF CORRUPTION really brings the heat and sets the bar high for up and coming tech death bands.  The album production quality is top notch and everything is well mixed and clear.  You really have to listen to it and appreciate all the hard work and effort they have put into such a masterpiece. They do well to keep you on your feet and it's not a bunch of recycled and repackaged garbage.  You can tell they really went out of their way to capture a unique sound and style and endeavor to be leaders of the genre.
