With this name and with such a cover artwork I was almost sure that this would be an old school Death Metal band, something like DEATH BREATH for example. It turns out I was correct only about the "old school" sound, but the genre is not Death Metal. It surely is extreme though...
The Norwegian duet was formed in 2008 and in two years time it managed to sign a contract with the also Norwegian Duplicate Records and release this 4 track EP, which seems to receive a strong promotion by the label for reasons I can't really understand. I think the label has much better bands to offer.
CARNIWHORE is all about totally old school Thrash/Black Metal sounds with a punkish Rock & Roll attitude influenced by bands like AURA NOIR, AUDIOPAIN, INFERNO, NOCTURNAL BREED etc. The music is not exactly what I expected. Hardly decent riffs, a sound that is totally shitty and two guys that confused me about whether they truly are old school or they just try too hard to sound like that. To clear things up, "Rising Up" is not for the average metalhead, since it has this "rotten" vibe someone can find in late 80's releases. "Rising Up" is only for those who are devoted to the underground scene and love such "amateur" releases. As for me, I was not thrilled by CARNIWHORE's after the 2nd-3rd listening session...
