BRUTALLY DECEASED is a Death Metal band from Praha, Czech Republic. From their webpage, "The band was formed in 2007, in order to execute some filthy sounding and highly distorted notes." "Black Infernal Vortex" is their third full-length album, and contains nine tracks.  "Divinity and Decay" leads off the album, in a fast-paced flurry of drumming and riffing. The Death vocals are deep and dark. Occasional blast beats fill the air here and there. The mixing of the instrumentation is dirty and grungy, sounding like it echoes off of the inside of a large metal deathtrap.  "Devil's Tarn" is the second track, keeping the same swift pace and blast beat drumming and riffing. The key is unchanged for the most part, but an alternating riff and furious guitar solo add another dimension to the track. "Day of Darkness" is a slower, more grinding song with two very low, bassy riffs, making the track as evil as possible. The guitars have to be down-tuned many steps to achieve this level of bass. By contrast, "Black Hammer of Satan" is a fast and furious song where the guitar carries most of the sound. A well-crafted solo is present as well. Towards the end there is an alternating meter that adds some complexity. "Serve the Labyrinthine Tomb" might be the best song on the album. The main riff is accessible and put to a rhythm that is easy to follow and enjoy.

"Regurgitation of Blood, Devoured Flesh and Gastric Juices" is a very fitting title to this track, as this is exactly the image I conjure up as it plays. There is a loose structure to the song but mostly it is an exercise in pure brutality. "Below the Adversary" has a higher reaching pitch in the riff than I have heard yet, but the low end is still very strong. The twin guitar parts sound as if they echo off the walls of a satanic church. The final two tracks work in unison with one another. The first is an instrumental prelude, leading to the song "Deathwish." The prelude sets a tone of anger or impending death building from within. When the main riff rolls in, the fury and aggression return. The vocals are especially strained in this track, compelling you to listen. Overall I find this to be very traditional, dark Death Metal, with little variation. This genre can be very unforgiving when it comes to purity, and I believe BRUTALLY DECEASED is as pure as they come. What I found missing is often the same thing in this genre, and that is some variation in sound within the boundaries of traditional Death Metal.
