Guilty As Sin (Reissue)
Brazen Abbot

This "Guilty As Sin" album by BRAZEN ABBOT was originally released in 2003 through Steamhammer/SPV and if I remember correctly, it made just as much of a splash as the albums before this one. But hey, you can't fault the Bulgarian band leader Nikolo Kotzev in being able to get on board there absolute bangers of singers. I mean. No one can doubt the vocal abilities of Joe Lynn Turner, Göran Edman and Jørn Lande. And no, I'm not going to list for which bads and artists they have sung before, because oi feel that if you have to ask, you either don't know your Melodic Rock/Metal history, are very young (and the internet will gladly update you) or your reading a review in a musical category that isn't yours to start with. That doesn't mean you're not welcome to continue/ on the contrary, maybe your interest will be piqued into listening what BRAZEN ABBOT is bringing to the table on this reissue of "Guilty As Sin".
And I must not forget to tell you that although the singers are the stars on "Guilty As Sin", they aren't able to shine without the cooperation of the other musicians. And without exception they are all able to make the songs shine, give them the right feel and atmosphere. They rock hard when needed, adopt a DEEP PURPLE/RAINBOW vibe when asked, but just as easily slow down and give a ballad or rock ballad the right amount of delicate emotion. In that respect there is no escaping the fact that you simply can't fault the performances on "Guilty As Sin". It is a testament to Nikolo Kotzev that he is able to devise something that is as good and precious as BRAZEN ABBOT. And whatever the reason for this reissue, this is golden in the area of Melodic Rock. It therefore shouldn't surprise anyone that this time Frontiers Music Srl is the label responsible for this version having been released on 12 December 2025.
One thing that you can be sure of with BRAZEN ABBOT is that the songs that you will listen to are not only very well put together, properly written with a good and solid structure, but also with some good bones. Most important of all, I believe that band leader Nikolo Kotzev has chosen wisely when he was deciding who was going to sing which song. And that is key when you want to stand out, and I have to admit, that is exactly what BRAZEN ABBOT does on this reissue of "Guilty As Sin". What a treat.
