La Alma
Blossoms Fall

BLOSSOMS FALL are a Metalcore band from Albuquerque, New Mexico (USA). This is classed as a project on the EPK that comes with the music. It started in July 2024, and now, less than a year and a half later, I am listening to their debut EP "La Alma". With a short span of just over 18 minutes of playing time it is a certainty that it will take me just about over a full session of their musical abilities whilst typing this review. And yes, if you ever need to be sure that what BLOSSOMS FALL brings on "La Alma", there is no other way to describe it than as Metalcore. So at least that makes categorising a lot easier.
When I think of the Metalcore bands that make my hair stand on end, that give me goosebumps, that have that edge that makes them stand out from the vast amount of mediocre bands in that genre, they all have a feature that is just different from the rest. When you see my year list for 2025, you will notice the unsurmountable Metalcore band UNPROCESSED at the top of that list. That is because not only are they able to sound different, due to the bass being the main instrument, they also have the ability to think outside the box. In other words, they dare to be different. That is also what I am hoping for when listening to BLOSSOMS FALL. And in the short time they have made themselves available to me, on "La Alma" they are colouring within the lines, not venturing out and being overly adventurous.
The same goes for the sound. It is all just too neat, too controlled. I never get the feeling that the band is throwing everything they have at me, that they are holding back for future references and/or releases. If they are, that's their bad, because that means that they are forgetting that you can only make a good first impression once. And even though "La Alma" is not bad at all, I'm afraid that I foresee them drowning in amongst the large pool of other Metalcore releases. And that is a pity, as I feel that musically BLOSSOMS FALL does have it in them to make a real statement. The fact that "La Alma" has a good and solid sound is their saving grace. I just hope it is enough to make the band last.
