Deafening

Bloodride

Even though I like my Thrash Metal BLOODRIDE somehow has escaped my attention throughout all those years. Until now that is. And I can assure you that I am glad that this hiatus in my Thrash Metal history lesson has been rectified, because to make a long story short; I like “Deafening”.

Instead of trying to find out about the history of the band through the internet, the EPK simply said it all: Fierce Finnish Old School Thrash Metal band BLOODRIDE hail from Helsinki and was formed in the year 2000. The band released their first EP “Bloodridden Disease” in 2004 and their debut full-length album “Crowned In Hell” came out in 2011. Since then, they released three more albums, which makes the current one “Deafening” their fifth studio album to date. And even though I like my Thrash Metal BLOODRIDE somehow has escaped my attention throughout all those years. Until now that is. And I can assure you that I am glad that this hiatus in my Thrash Metal history lesson has been rectified, because to make a long story short; I like “Deafening”.

Like the EPK says, this is Old School Thrash Metal with some vibes of darker sound like Death Metal and harsh edge of Hardcore. And I have to agree, all the elements mentioned are very obvious and apparent within the musical boundaries that BLOODRIDE is using when they write, record and play their songs. It makes that every tune on “Deafening” has the kind of vibe that will not only have you moshing like a maniac, but also slamming, kicking and jumping when appropriate. In short, BLOODRIDE has been able to deliver a very addicting album that makes you happy when listening to it. and whether they intended it or not, it does put a smile on my face all through every listening session I have had.

And before you ask, no, BLOODRIDE have not stumbled on any new ground or tried to renew any kind of musical direction. On the contrary, they have taken what was already there, mixed in the what they felt would be the best way they knew and made sure that what they did would work for them. So, if you are comfortable with rehashing but invigorating old habits and rhythms, feel free to explore what is to be heard on “Deafening”. Plus, if this album is the first contact with these Finns and you are liking it, explore their past, I understand that all former releases were received and accepted with just as much gusto as I have since first listening to “Deafening”. And now I have to make sure to keep an eye on BLOODRIDE, as to see if they can keep up this positive vibe and quality.
