Let the Fury Rise
Bloodorn
Extreme metal or power metal? Why choose when Bloodorn from France gives you both? Led by Nils Courbaron, lead guitarist of symphonic metal band Sirenia, Bloodorn delivers music as powerful and brutal as the Viking execution method that their name derives from. Bloodorn's debut album, "Let the Fury Rise," is a Titan ruling in its world. Mike Livas' mix of operatic and guttural vocals cleave through the air like an epic battle cry, rallying the band to fight in an epic battle for the ages. Nils' blistering riffs are a reckless attack, cutting down anything that stands in the way of metal glory. Francesco Saverio Ferraro and Michael Brush act as an unstoppable rhythm section siege engine, Michael's percussion work pounds the thickest fortified walls to dust and rubble, while Francesco's bass thunders through the air, striking fear in the hearts of whoever stands in the way. Bloodorn's music brings out the sound of giants like Dragonforce and dares to blend it with black metal and death metal elements, which is displayed in songs like "God Won't Come" and "Rise up Again."
The band's anthem track, "Bloodorn" puts Bloodorn's full power on display in a blazing-fast, molten power metal track scorching the earth around them. "Bloodorn" is pure, energetic power metal drawing from Gamma Ray, Hammerfall, Freedom Call, and Dragonfoce. Mike's vocals in "Bloodorn" could give the god of metal vocals a run for his money, invoking the screaming high range of Rob Halford. "Tonight We Fight!" draws from Hammerfall's energy, giving fans something to be familiar with but maintaining originality. "Tonight We Fight!" shows us what a band totally in sync can do with harmonized backing vocals and heavy, ever-evolving musical passages. Michael Brush's drumming in "Tonight We Fight" kicks you in the head and doesn't stop like the percussion work of Atte Palokangas of Beast in Black.
"Let The Fury Rise" is a world-class example of the Olympian strength of power metal and its raw power. I look forward to seeing what the future holds for Bloodorn and what's coming next from their metal realm.
