The Mission
Black Corona
Many Metalheads have problems to deal with modern Metal ways (some for a matter of taste, others are merely indoctrinated by old Metalheads), because some think that modernity did a kind of harm on what existed back in the 80's. Maybe 'evolution' is a word that doesn't exist for them, because if modernity didn't come, Metal would be dead by now. The new fans aren't brought by some underground copies of what was done on the 80's, but by mainstream Metal names, with some being from young bands. And on BLACK CORONA, an Austrian quartet, pulses the modern vibe in each moment of "The Mission".
Abrasive, intense and greasy, their musical work is a form of modern Groove Metal filled with amazing melodies. It gets near of Metalcore from one side, New Metal on another, always playing with a modern and aggressive energy, but bearing intense hooking melodies as well. The quartet is a young band, so some maturing is still needed to sharp things in a better way, but for now things are already very good. The sound quality of "The Mission" shows that the producer worked truly hard, because it's abrasive and greasy on instrumental tunes, with the songs being aggressive to extreme sometimes. But everything can be heard and understood, including the vocation of the quartet for creating very good modern and charming melodies. Yes, the final result of the production is excellent.
Their modern and melodic appeal can be detected in many moments, as well as an accessible insight, and such elements are clear on "Sweet Shadow" and "Areas" (both presetting an excellent work from bass guitar and drums, creating solid and technical rhythmic changes for its melodies), "The Mission" (a perfect blend between aggressive parts with nasty voices and amazing clean voices, and a deeper and catchy chorus), the brutal smashing skull weight of "Flow" and "Aterna" (very good guitars, indeed), and the oppressive weight and charming melodies of "The Night Eternal". These are their best shots as well.
Modern and really charming, after some rehearsals, shows an evolution, the musical work of BLACK CORONA will be in the same level of the giants. For now, "The Mission" is really a very good release.
