This is the second EP from Finnish band BILL SKINS FIFTH. This release is pure Melodic Death Metal, clocking in at almost 22 minutes. It doesn't let up until the last note, so due to the fact that it's only a short EP, it's definitely made me want more from this band.

BILL SKINS FIFTH are very good at what they do. The vocals, the solos, and the production are all to a very high standard. Every song is tight, with catchy choruses and awesome solos. It may be a little too melodic for some of you out there, but I really enjoyed it, and it didn't take anything away from the EP as a whole. Hömppi's vocals are very good, not too growly that all his words meld together, but gravelly enough to please the Death Metal fans. The guitar and bass playing is top notch too; Hömppi, Ylönen and Kuusisto shred like their lives depend on it, producing solos in each track that I honestly couldn't wait to hear. Heikkilӓ's drumming is frantic and awesome, fitting in with the up-tempo feel of "From What Lies Beneath".

So what makes this stand apart from all the other Melodic Death Metal bands out there? Well, for starters, the band certainly doesn't stick to any formula. Even in just the five tracks of the EP, there's a great deal of variety. All of the tracks are led by brilliant interplay between the lead and rhythm guitars, resulting in something that's heavy and brutal, and will leave a mark.

BILL SKINS FIFTH have definitely upped the game from their last EP, and it is something that has impressed me a lot. It's telling that when I listened to "From What Lies Beneath" I found that when it ended, I thought it was too soon, and I wanted to hear much more! Definitely a band I will be keeping an eye on in the future.
