Stoke-on-Trent, on England, is a city famous for the pottery industry of the region, to the point of its citizens being known as Potters, but it's worldly famous for giving Rock 'n' Roll the most infamous (in the good sense of the expression) bastard and motherfucker of all: Lemmy 'Mr. Rock 'n' Roll' Kilmister. But it doesn't mean that the city isn't bringing new names after Lemmy's coming. No, the lands of Stoke-on-Trent still are fertile, and the land-sliders and rock-smashers from the quartet BALLSDEEP are here to proof these worlds with "Temperance".

Their music is in a Modern Metal/Hardcore way, flowing violent and aggressive with modern instrumental tunes (but not as greasy as usual) and nasty growls on the vocals, and with clear Groove Metal touches in many parts. It's influenced by names as SEPULTURA, HATEBREED, PANTERA and other names in this way, but they show their own personality on their music, but it's really violent and viral (due many strategic hooks). Yes, it's really a very good release. The production of this EP was done in a way to preserve the modern and aggressive side of the quartet's music. But everything was set to make their musical work clear and understandable, even for a dummy that doesn't known what are musical models or the differences between genres. So be prepared to have your necks crushed!

Five excellent songs are presented (it's a pity, because the more you hear to this EP, the more of the band you want to have in hands). "Lay the Lines" has that known Modern Metal/Hardcore ambience with good slow parts and abrasive guitars and New Metal elements. To reduce brains to shreds and bones to ashes, "Claret" comes with its massive energy and crushing rhythms (what shows a very good work from bass guitar and drums). Aggressive and hardcorized is "Supercharger", with a faster approach and it's filled with nasty and Groovy 'breakdowns' (and the screams and growls are very good). A bit more complex and with slow tempos, "X" shows a massive and bitter energy that can explode the speakers (another very good work from bass guitar and drums can be heard). And "King of the Heathens" (the song chosen for the lyric video) is a synthesis of everything that the quartet's music has to offer (once more, the guitars and vocals are great).

The last words: once more, it's a pity that "Temperance" is just an EP, so let's hope that BALLSDEEP can come back next time with a full album. Oh, one more thing to the band: please, next time, put your line-up on Bandcamp and/or Facebook. I had a real hard time to find it...
