The Australian Rock scene is famous for being the homeland of the Hard Rock monstrosity AKA AC/DC (who defined many forms of playing Metal and Hard Rock), and so the quintet laid a path that many bands from the country runs their music on the shadow of the masters, but sometimes using their formula, but doing things on their own. And that's what AVALANCHE does on its EP called "Second Hand Band".

Thunderous, melodic, technically simple (but not in extreme form, because they use very good sets of rhythmic changes), gathering those nasty and dirty influences from the past (that same ones that reeks to whiskey, cigar smoke and brawls on a pub full of drunken people), but writing things on their own way. So, their music is full of that old and good nasty energy, catchy arrangements and solid instrumental work (with melodic vocals instead of sandpaper voice tunes). So, the best thing to do is enjoy their music, because it doesn't sound as something that wasn't done before and is very good. This EP was recorded at Def Wolf Studios, having Mark Matula working with the band. The result is a sonority that is defined and clean but having the same feeling from an old pub: handmade and organic, simple and direct, without endless editions. It's like they said: 'let's turn it on and play it', simple in this way.

Obvious, that old and good vicious catchy energy from Australian Hard Rock is presented on all the six songs, so be prepared to become their fan, because their songs are really addictive. "Killer Instinct" is a might Hard Rock blow fueled by nasty guitars, with the same happening on "Second Hand Band" (but pay attention to the very good work of bass guitar and drums). "Get Back (to Fuckwit City)" is a powerful song, with charming and nasty melodies, in the same way of "Spit in My Mouth" (this one with that greasy and bitter ambience created by rough guitars, and with very good bass guitar and drums presence) and "Down in the Gutter". And "Permanent Link" is a massive onslaught filled with excellent Boogie Rock elements.

Yes, "Second Hand Band" is really a very good release, but the reality is that AVALANCHE isn't on the second team. They're really a First Hand Band!
