ATTRACTIVE CHAOS are a newly formed international melodic Metal band coming from France and Italy. After releasing two singles last year and early this year, their debut EP has a length of about 28 minutes. "The Fire Between Us" was mixed and mastered by Simone Mularoni at his Domination Studio in San Marino. The EP is an independent release. The first outing of the Italian/French melodic Metal outfit starts promising with some powerful guitar riffing at a fast pace. The verse parts of "Before You Hit The Ground" slow down to a measured tempo, where the bass lines together with the guitars and the vocals drive the song forward. The vocals of Emma Elvaston cover a wide part of the vocal range and there are a lot of tonal shifts in the song. The melodies are a mixture of being catchy and, during the chorus, being epic. "Won Lost" starts with crunching bass lines and tight riffing. It is a mid-tempo track and very different from the opener. The riffing is heavier, the choruses are catchier, almost anthemic. The verse parts have a few jazzy vibes, while the break is driven by powerful riffing.

ATTRACTIVE CHAOS use orchestral arrangements in their music. While they were in the background for the opening track, they are more dominant in "Won Lost" and here the piano contribution for the verse parts sticks out. "Won Lost" is a great live track and I am sure it will be a regular on the setlists of ATTRACTIVE CHAOS. "Come To Me" has an epic start at a measured pace and transitions into the verse part, starting with the acoustic guitar and the vocals, where the bass and drums join in later. The choruses are again almost sing-alongs with catchy melodies where Emma Elvaston hits some very high notes. The overall melodic framework of "Come To Me" has a few melancholic vibes. One highlight of the track is the very contributing lead guitar solo near the end of the track. "Come To Me" is another song for the live setlists. "Still Here" starts with the piano driving the track with the vocals joining in. It is the ballad of the EP, and it is the first of two songs with Mario del Rio (OBLIVION REQUIEM; MELPHONE) as a guest vocalist. Emma Elvaston shows again her huge vocal range and drives the song forward. "Still Here" is all about the piano, the orchestral arrangements and the vocals of both vocalists.

"As You Are" starts with catchy melodies provided by the guitar and those are the central theme of the song. The verse parts have again those melancholic vibes while the choruses are again anthemic and sing-alongs. The break is powerful and heavy with the guitar riffing and the crushing bass. There are a few orchestral arrangements but they are kept in the background. It is not a surprise that "As You Are" is the official video release, and the YouTube link is given below. "The Storm" is the final and probably the heaviest track of the EP. After a short guitar pre-lude, the track starts with powerful and heavy riffing at mid-tempo. The melodies have a lot of oriental vibes. Mario del Rio returns as a guest vocalist, but "The Storm" is all about the guitars and the lead guitar solo for the break is the highlight of the track.

ATTRACTIVE CHAOS have made a good start to their career. "The Fire Between Us" has all the ingredients of fine modern melodic Metal: the melodies, the catchiness, the versatility in the songs, and on top of it an excellent vocalist who keeps the music very well together. The six songs are a mixture of easy-to-listen tracks, heaviness, and melancholy. This mix keeps the EP fresh and dynamic. The EP is well produced. "The Fire Between Us" makes appetite for more and melodic Metal fans will love what they hear. ATTRACTIVE CHAOS leave their first mark in the melodic Metal scene and will hopefully return soon with their first full-length album.
