Atrocious Filth - OVV album cover

With very little information about the band on social media, I had to rely on Bandcamp, which was pretty sparse. The Metal Archives also had no entry on the band, so we will have to let the music do the talking. "OVV" has seven songs, and "F" is the first. The opening riff is dissonant, slow moving, and Progressive. The vocals vary from whispers to short, angry bursts, while the music bubbles with the bite of a coiled serpent. It reminds me of the music that you might hear in a torture chamber buried somewhere in the woods.

"N" rattles with metallic sounds in a slow, mesmerizing groove of desolation and utter hopelessness. Some eerie and spooky effects come in just after the half way mark, which are almost jovial compared to the rest of the song. "L" features thick bass notes and spoken word type vocals that are again hypnotic. It's almost as if they band is playing with you, and your emotions, because when you really take in the song, it's vast and cavernous; almost too big to comprehend. Don't stare into the void for too long. "T" is another mysterious song. The sound is smoother, but with sharp and deep accents. As the vocals increase in intensity, so do the goosebumps of warning on your neck.

"D" begins with haunting chants, leading to a dissonant cacophony of various sounds that build in your ears like the grating of a jackhammer. "A" is the longest on the album. It opens with faint echoes of music and the far away, steady drums. It begins a slow build, with dull vocals and instruments coming more to the forefront. The horror is finally realized towards the end of the song. "O" closes the album. Talk about strange, and harrowing...unknown instruments are in your face in the beginning, before it settles into a faster moving groove of vile filth and hatred. This was a bizarre album but also pleasing in a very devious way. The music is torturous and the vocals equally as frightening. The atmosphere and mood created is very somber and depressing, but something gives speed to the sound as well. This was a very unique listening experience, but it is not for the faint at heart.
