As Paradise Falls - Madness/Medicine album cover

From their EPK, "AS PARADISE FALLS is a band that has redefined what the Australian Metal scene is capable of, and the "Madness/Medicine" EP is a new breed of Metal/Deathcore that has raised the archetype of heavy music. APF's earth shaking EP is scheduled to be released on September 29, 2022, via Eclipse Records. The album contains five songs.

"Bats" is the first one. That classic Deathcore is present...big, chunk, heavy riffs with plenty of dissonance, and even some Djent tones. The vocals are of course harsh, but don't take over the song, while electronic parts swirl in the background. This song is very well put together. "Captain Hero" is one-part heavy, rhythmic cadence and another part burning hatred. The song also features some Groovy elements as well as thick, meaty bass notes. Back come the electronic elements, giving the song a bit of an Industrial sound.

"KFBR392" features more chunky rhythms, some effects in the guitar work, and a slow, murdering sound. Like a killer on a silent spree, he ducks in and out of homes in the night, slicing throats with chilling accuracy, before moving on methodically to the next home. "Mechanical Hannibals" is another terrifying song that features a variety of vocal techniques...all with the harsh style. The band knows how to fill gaps in the sound with plenty of backing ambiance. "TR4K" closes the EP; a short, two-minute jaunt, staring into the abyss for just a bit too long. The longer you stare, the more the evil begins to take over your consciousness. Before you even notice, you are mesmerized by its power, and your former life slips away.

Overall, I found this EP to be an excellent combination of Deathcore, Metalcore, and even some Industrial elements. The band presents the EP with confidence, and downright bossy attitude. My only complaint is that I want more! Many of the songs were short, but densely packed, though I think there was just a little more room for some further development of their sound. Keep an eye on these guys-they are poised to make a run at the giants in the genre.
