Within Each Lies The Other
As Everything Unfolds

Post Hardcore and Metalcore are somewhat of a bone of contention for me, having grown up listening to some of the trailblazing bands of the genres, and being ridiculed for enjoying it as much as I did, I find it somewhat nostalgic and always an enjoyable experience checking out the up and comers of the genre in the UK. AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS is jut that, having enjoyed some low level success, they are here with their debut album "Within Each Lies The Other". The artwork is fairly simple, yet interesting.
Opening is "On The Inside" synths and an undertoned tracking bring the music crashing to life. The vocals are effortlessly flitted between clean and harsh, and the aforementioned synths a constant presence throughout and they really add a huge depth to the music. Both "Take Me There" and "Wallow" are great demonstrations of musical knowledge as they effortlessly flow between intense hard hitting riffs, and stripped back vulnerable sections. Divine.
There's a clear, to me, influence in the form of PARAMORE, the vocal styles are very similar with the addition of harsh sections. The instrumental sections are similar also, but with the hard hitting and punchier sound that AS EVERYTHING UNFOLDS delivers. The album exhumes emotion and passion that cannot be ignored or overlooked; each track is it's own painting, layers upon layers that build to create this release. Whilst the album is supposed to represent the 'best and worst' of the band, and possibly society as a whole, I feel that it was focussing more on the worst side of things.
In the info pack I was sent, there were some quotes from the band themselves regarding the songs, and I focussed in on "Hiding From Myself", mainly due to the description of being somone battling their own self worth and trying to better themself. It is a fantastic track that really encapsulates just how I am feeling right now, and hit me right where it hurts (in a good way I might add!). Any music that makes me feel something, not just hear it will always sit highly in my estimations.
Overall, this is a fantastic album, and to say that it is a debut only adds to it, there are bands out there who will go through their careers and not release something quite as hard hitting, delicate and composed in their time.
