During the early days of the 90's, the entire world came to see the rebirth of Death Metal. The genre seemed like it was dead. The main factor to such a depiction was the lack the attention of the media due the Thrash Metal commercial after 1986. But the genre called attention once more and names as OBITUARY, MORBID ANGEL, DEICIDE and CANNIBAL CORPSE started to ravage the lands in USA. On Europe, the genre came out from the depths of Swedish underground scene. Names as CARNAGE, ENTOMBED, DISMEMBER and UNLEASHED were helping to pave ways for the future generations, and left a musical inheritance. And the trio AS COFFIN CREEP, from Malmö, shows that it's an heir of the genre, as "Voids" is here to prove.

Their music is not something that can be labeled as Swedish Old School Death Metal, because their music has a load of influences from British and North American Death Metal as well, and the use of slow tempos makes their music (maybe a feature inherited from early Doom Death Metal acts) sound abrasive, funereal and brutal, but some groove inherited from Hardcore can be heard in many parts (as on "Puking Necrophilia II"). And even not sounding like something really new, it's full of energy and with many strategic Death Metal musical hooks. It's good, in the end of all. As could be expected after the words above, the sonority of "Voids" is abrasive, crude and aggressive, with an Old School Death Metal outfit. But one must understand that these aren't the 90's anymore, so some improvements were used on the production for the sake of the understanding of what the band is up to. And the final result is very good.

Their musical work, as stated above, isn't really new, but the band shows that they're looking for a personal form in playing it. But for now, their talent can be heard on songs as "Holes, Spaces & Voids" (very good Old School Death Metal guitar riffs and fine rhythmic shifts), "Haze of the Void Witch" (some hooks on their simple technical approach can be heard, along with fine tunes contrasts on the vocals), "Molded by Wicked Disgust" (the nasty and funereal ambience that arises on their slower moments seduces the listeners easily), "Funeral" (as the title states, it's a slower song with abrasive landscaping sonority, and what good work on bass guitar and drums), "Out of the Necrofogs" (some hooks inherited from Hardcore can be heard in many moments), and "Puking Necrophilia II". This set is the right ones for a proper introduction to what they're up to, but clearly shows that this trio still has potential to use on their music.
