The Quest For The Sacred Melody

Armoured Knight

“The Quest For The Sacred Melody” has speed and momentum, as the songs are rather good. Yes, this has all been done before, but somehow the musicality of the tunes does give you that edge that makes you listen just that little sharper, that piques your interest whereas others just don’t.

ARMOURED KNIGHT are a Heavy/Speed Metal band from Peñaflor/Talagante, Santiago, Chile. They have been together and making music since 2009. Up and until now they have only been able to release two EP's and a compilation album. So, some 16 years after forming they finally have arrived and their debut album "The Quest For The Sacred Melody" has been let loose on the world. That happened on 7 October 2025 with the help of the German record company Dying Victims Productions. Now it is up to me to say my piece about the 34 minutes plus that these eight songs last.

First off let me tell you that the songs of ARMOURED KNIGHT have come out very polished, and that the Speed Metal inspirations are more prevalent than the Heavy Metal ones. It gives "The Quest For The Sacred Melody" speed and momentum, as the songs are rather good. Yes, this has all been done before, but somehow the musicality of the tunes does give you that edge that makes you listen just that little sharper, that piques your interest whereas others just don't. What I will say is that the production of "The Quest For The Sacred Melody" is a little under the weather. I feel that ARMOURED KNIGHT  haven't done themselves any favours, as it is a bit dull and foggy instead of clear and transparent. I feel that if they had done that, it would have made a big difference.

But there is one thing that I need to say, which is that ARMOURED KNIGHT either need to get vocalist José Tapia some serious singing lessons or they should think about replacing him and getting a new singer. In the lower regions it isn't too bad or noticeable yet, but when he rises in octaves it get really bad. He not only is out of tune; his voice makes my intestines cringe and my ears bleed. It is such a pity, as it is holding back the band in a very big way. With a good singer that really fits the music on "The Quest For The Sacred Melody" I wouldn't have been surprised if the people who listen to this album think that ARMOURED KNIGHT is blowing them away in a positive manner. Now it happens out of embarrassment, and nobody deserves that. If you ask me, it justifies the 16 years since their birth that it took to come out with a full album.
