Terminal Cognition
Arise In Chaos
One of the main reasons that Big Daddy here truly disgusts labels in music is that none of them can be a good way to make a complete and truly description of a band's musical work. No, they are just something for the dumb to have an idea of what he/she is hearing. Just calling a band Metal is enough, and the rest is a question of like or dislike a band's musical work. We could say that ARISE IN CHAOS, an explosive quintet from Denver (CO) can be a fine example of what I say, especially by their new album, the excellent piece of heavy music called "Terminal Cognition."
Some label their musical work as Groove Metal. But even keeping that harmonic structure that we can hear on works of bands as PANTERA and MACHINE HEAD, their music is extremely aggressive and nasty, in a way that can make the ears of many fans ache. But there are extreme and strong melodies under the massive attack of nasty guitar riffs, strong and heavy rhythmic session (with very good technical work), and nasty screamed vocals, and the final result is a music bitter, heavy and aggressive, but created with energy and a very good dose of personality. Surrender yourselves and your necks to their violence in musical form!
As the album is played, you have the clear idea that the band made a wise choice in "Terminal Cognition" production. Besides the abrasive and nasty notes they are using on the instruments, and the heavy weight of their songs, there's a sense of clarity that allow us all to understand and take in the best of their music. On this album (their second one, to be exact), they're really in great shape. The extreme and fast "Nero" with its ferocious vocals and guitar riffs; the bitter rhythmic work on tempo changes shown on "By Your Own Head"; the slow and strong groove on the nightmare made song called "Hell Bent" (what excellent riffs once more); the changes between fast tempos and bitter slow rhythmic that "Siren" has (along with fine harsh vocals); the modern vibe and nasty grooved melodies of "Violent Colors"; and the nasty aggressiveness of the guitars on "Driven" are samples that these guys can become a giant on USA Metal scene, even outside of their country. Forget the labels, hear ARISE IN CHAOS, and let you brain be smashed!
