Black Metal acts from Germany are always showing some creative approaches in the genre, even after all these years after the coming of the Second Wave. And the lack of a search for new forms of music make the fans think that things are stagnated when, in reality, the things aren't in such a way. And ANTRISCH shows how they can make things interesting on their first release, "Expedition I - Dissonanzgrat".

They're into an Atmospheric Black Metal form, so they can combine the natural aggressiveness of Black Metal with carefully ambiences carefully worked (and expressed by the guitars, not by keyboards, as it's usually done on the genre, besides some parts of them can be heard). Their music sounds aggressive and full of energy in some moments, on other is grandiose and on some parts is introspective and dense, but it sounds really great in every moment, make things interesting on the entire album. And be prepared to be caught in the maelstrom of melancholic/atmospheric chaos that they unleash. The production worked in a form that is usual to German Black Metal bands: it's a combination between the harsh approach of the genre (to make things sound morbid and crude) with a defined sonority. So the band's work sounds rough, but in a way that can be understood by everyone.

The musical work of the band is really very good, and "I Aufbruchsignale" and "II Seilschaftargwohn" (both showing a fine blend between aggressiveness and atmospheric parts, with very good tempos conducted by bass guitar and drums), "III Stirnschlag" (a piledriving rhythmic allows the guitars to be expressive in many parts), "IIII Firnfeldkonfrontation" (that shows a more slow pace, with a bitter ambience and very good shrieks contrasting with some clean tunes) and "IIIII Gipfelfieber" (a massive storm of aggressiveness with a lovely bitter energy flowing from it) are showing that the future is promising for the quartet.

For now, ANTRISCH is really a fine revelation of the German Black Metal scene, but "Expedition I - Dissonanzgrat" shows that the quartet can climb to higher grounds in the future. They have talent and potential to do so.
