ANDE is a one-man-project from Belgium and "Bos" is the newest effort. The fourth album is mainly inspired by the power and beauty of nature, everyday life in small towns, reminiscence and loss. It's musically situated between Second Wave, Atmospheric and Post Black Metal. The album contains eight tracks.

"De Messentrekker" leads off the album. It begins with a single guitar note, then drums come in and it starts to build. The vocals rage over a bed of semi-melodic but slow, pulsing guitar rhythms. It picks up steam, and then there are a few harder guitar accents towards the end. "Het Broek" begins with melancholy clean guitars and some slightly harrowing background elements. It picks up to a raging sound, with heavy guitars and vocal shrieks. The intensity slows, with spoken word, and then finishes strongly.

"Vogelvlucht" is a nine-minute beast, that opens with a fast moving wall of guitars and deadly vocals. There are some melodies swirling in the background. It slows for a few minutes, then the madness returns. It finishes with some weighted notes. "Ransulien" opens with a slow grind of both distorted and clean guitars. About two-minutes in, it hardens. Around the half-way mark, it begins to swell, then the slow grind returns with some melodic elements. Coming to an end, the vocals rage, and the drums begin a steady gallop. "De Bierteller" is a short, three-minute blast of an out of control locomotive, ploughing through everything in its path.

"Mijn Hart" begins with doleful clean guitars and a bit of spoken word, before a heavy distorted riff comes in, along with some background melodies. Around the half-way mark, it hardens some more. Heavy, powerful guitar accents combined with some scary background elements make for a harrowing experience. "Achter De Bomen" is another nine-minute opus. It goes straight for your throat out of the gates, with some layering in the guitars. Approaching the half-way mark, it slows for just a few bars, to allow the sound to soak in. A three-note guitar pattern carries the song to completion.

"Het Afscheid" closes the album. Soft, clean sounds carry the track forward. This is the "beauty of nature" he speaks about in the opening bio. It's a very pretty way to end an album. I really like the atmosphere he's developed here on the album. It speaks of desolation and despondence, but also of beauty and power. The traditional Black Metal elements are there for purists, but he has expanded the sound into newer, more modern territories. It's hard to believe that this is all the brainchild of one musician.
