I always say that all the times when a band tries to do something new is a very good idea. Even when the band is not accepted and not recognized by their way. Some bands are ahead of their own time, and their creations are not accepted by Metal fans in the time of its release. And I like to tell that CELTIC FROST is a fine example of that, because "To Mega Therion" and "Into the Pandemonium" weren't received in a positive way for their fans back in 1985 and 1986. Due the use of opera singer and keyboards on "To Mega Therion" and the total eclecticism of "Into the Pandemonium", the fans turned their back to the band, even both album being a source of infinity importance for consolidation of many Metal styles (you'd never have bands as THERION or DIMMU BORGIR with them). Some old school fans have severe.

troubles to accept them both (as they have difficulties to think by themselves, of course), so when "Big Daddy" here faces a band that is doing something really different, he tries to respect it a lot. And the Swedish quartet  ALFAHANNE is trying to expand limits with their album "Alfapokalipse". Yes, the band is too strange sometimes, due their mix between Black Metal with influences from classic Rock and something from Post Punk and New Wave. Putting it all in the cauldron demands to have a strong personality, as they have, and their creation is a music that sounds aggressive, but with great doses of melodies and a very accessible insight.  I really recommend you all to hear their songs with open mind and heart.

The sound quality is harsh and very darkened, as a Black Metal from the SWOBM band usually sounds. But it causes no problem in our comprehension of what they are playing and where they want to get with their musical work. It's good, but to some tunes, they really deserves a quality not as raw as we hear here. And all the musicians are doing a very good work on their instruments, with a level of technique not as high as some would love, but efficient in their musical insight.

"Bättre Dar" (with a very introspective and morbid atmosphere and good riffs), the energetic "Ormar Af Satan",  the accessible "Rocken Dör" (with some vocals fitting perfectly in these tunes between the shrieked and normal voices) and  "Indiehora" can be the named as their best moments on the album, but from the beginning to its end, "Alfapokalypse" leave no spaces for complains. And on "Såld På Mörkret", we have Hoest from TAAKE is doing a special appearance, as Niklas Kvarforth from SHINING and V'gandr from HELHEIM are here on the album too.

If you're so addicted in mold to live in the past, stay away from their music. But if you're looking for something new inside Black Metal, ALFAHANNE is for you.
