The Thunderfist Chronicles
Alestorm

As everyone knowns, today many acts are using themes linked to pirates and such a universe (again: is it a consequence of the commercial success of “Pirates of the Caribbean” franchise? It’s not an offense, but a curiosity), some are very good, others not that much. But one of the most celebrated names on such tendency is of the UK-based quintet ALESTORM, and they’re back for another attack with its 8th full-length, “The Thunderfist Chronicles”. In the studio, again the band let the production, recordings, mixing and mastering at the hands of Lasse Lammert (of LSD-Studios and that works with them since their first full-length, and is known for his works with RAVEN, ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, SIGH, DEMONS & WIZARDS, GLORYHAMMER, FIFTH ANGEL and others).
It’s clear that the sonority is perfect, heavy and allowing the fans to have the best of the band’s music. The artwork of Ady Shutterscream on the cover completes the experience, with many guests playing Folk instruments and vocals (please, it would be bothering to name them all, and a time loss, once you can find it on the cover). From the music itself, the fans can’t complain, because the same spirit of their previous releases is here: the combination of Heavy/Power Metal elements with Folk Metal traces, in an alchemy filled with energy and personality. It’s clear that the ‘piracy-drinking-enjoying-life’ feeling fills all the songs, with very good melodies and hooking choruses (of that kind that you hear once, you sing along from the second time on), but what a fan of the quintet is expecting for? It’s heavy and full of energy, it’s good and fun as well, so enjoy it!
“Hyperion Omniriff”, “Killed to Death by Piracy”, “Banana”, “Frozen Piss 2”, “The Storm”, “Mountains of the Deep”, “Goblins Ahoy!” and “Mega-Supreme Treasure of the Eternal Thunderfist” (this one is a giant that lasts more than 17 minutes, but with many contrasts and different elements, so hearing to it is an amazing experience far from being boring) forms a set of excellent and inspired songs, and even after seven full-lengths, the band has energy and a lot of to offer to its fans, and can get new ones. And above all: it’s a fun release!
“The Thunderfist Chronicles” is a release that states clear: if you’re a ALESTORM fan, you’ll stay like this and will love the songs; if you’re not, maybe it’s the right time to experience their music. It’ll not hurt your feelings.
