I think that with this new album, the Spanish AGGRESSION may have struck a single blow at my opinion regarding old school Thrash Metal. Well, maybe not a final blow but it definitely shook something up. I have always said that Thrash Metal has never quite evolved since its emergence in the early 80s, especially when Punkish elements were involved and still are nowadays. In the case of "Viocracy", released via Xtreem Music, AGGRESSION slapped anyone who thought the way up was forever lost to this subgenre. Don't get me wrong, I don't see their current form as Progressive Thrash like ARTILLERY or WATCHTOWER, yet it is more of a collection of attempts to step out of the common ground.

As a whole, I respect their choices; some might even notice those as smart moves. However, even though I share this notion, the overall result didn't make such a positive impact. Of course that I think that steps like the Jazz / Blues / Lounge experimental such as on the amazing "Victims Of Bias", is a work of art while "Xyz" knocks with its creative riffs and cool rhythms for the formation of a great instrumental. Even so, what about the rest of the tracklist? AGGRESSION may have stepped out of the regularity of Thrash, which was served rather well in "Moshpirit", yet their experimentation, particularly with modern Thrash didn't help them as they might have thought. Most of the other tracks like "Viocracy", which shined in several areas, "MK Ultra" and "Dehumanize", were sufficient but didn't deliver with the same might as AGGRESSION shared earlier. The image that the band created for itself felt like DEW-SCENTED in the body of SLAYER, an image that doesn't suit them really.

"Viocracy" provided a frightening message regarding what is going on the news even with a partial awkwardness. AGGRESSION knew how to reach far deep into what terrorizes people and laid it for the show. I sure hope that along with their message that the good music will be carried out just they used to do. I understand their reason for innovation, yet sometimes probably it has to be done slowly.
