AFTER ALL is a Belgian band of which my first memories are of being the opening act for a lot of foreign bands when they played Belgium or The Netherlands. Afterwards they would also get my attention with the music they made themselves. AFTER ALL slowly but surely evolved into a full Thrash Metal band, with the proper music to boot. The result to date is that they have released 10 full-length albums, the last one being “EOS” from 2022. The one I am about to review is actually from 2009. Now, after fifteen years, it’s a great pleasure to rediscover the original versions of the songs from “Cult Of Sin”, remastered for vinyl by Dan Swanö. The album is available on black, gold and smoke clear vinyl (100 copies each) and is released by Metal Warrior Records.

Let’s get down to discuss the (already old) music on this vinyl release of “Cult Of Sin”. After the intro “Another False Prophecy”, which houses a METALLICA vibe, we get off furiously with “My Own Sacrifice”. Damn, I think the opening riff is so much like EXODUS that I feel that band would have been proud to write it. The more melodic riff used in that song reminds met of “South Of Heaven” era SLAYER. As a bonus, the song itself is bloody good! The same goes for the following song, “Scars Of My Actions”. Very impressive.

No, I’m not going to go through all the songs on the album. What I will say, is that the obviousness of the influences of other bands start fading more and more the further you get, which only helps to showcase the AFTER ALL sound. And I can only say: me likes! Actually, me likes it a lot! As to where which guest is playing their parts, I haven’t got a clue. The fact that their involvements don’t stand out against what the rest of the band is doing, Is a credit to the band and producers of “Cult Of Sin” .

“Cult Of Sin” can only be described as a very impressive album, and it makes me appreciate AFTER ALL even more than I did before. And to be fair, the band is still going strong to this day, and has made a bunch of good albums. Let’s hope that more of them get the chance to be featured once again. If that can be arranged by more vinyl releases, I’m all for it!
