The Time Will Come
Aeonblack
As NWOBHM caused a worldwide earthquake, many Metal scenes bloomed throughout the world. Even where Metal already had started, things became pretty interesting and better. Germany already had ACCEPT creating the traditional German Heavy Metal, but things improved a lot when bands mixed their own personal influences with Teutonic ways. And making reference to those days before 1985 (because Thrash Metal became the dominating Metal genre from 1986 to 1991), the German quartet AEONBLACK comes storming with their second album, "The Time Will Come".
Their musical work can be faced as a mix between traditional German Heavy Metal with Power Metal and elements that were usual on European scenes before 1985, with strength and melody, something inherited from JUDAS PRIEST (especially on the vocals) but with an accessible appeal on the melodies. It's nothing really new at all, but in the way these guys play, things become so good and hooking... And by the way, what energy the band shows on its songs! The band worked with Dennis Ward on the mixing and mastering, and everything bears that strength and weight that German bands usually have, the needed clarity and definition on the sound, but a clear organic feeling seems to fill the album in many moments. It's great, indeed!
The energy blow given by "Specter in Black" (amazing melodies and guitars), the traditional German mid-tempo rhythm and melodies heard on "I Won't Think About Tomorrow" (very good work on bass guitar and drums), the contrasts and melodic appeal of "The Time Will Come", the mix between aggressive, weight and melody heard on "The Phantom of Pain", and the charming approach of "Raw, Loud and Furious" are the best ones for an initial listening. After it, this album becomes an addiction.
Of course, such a formula in known, but as mentioned above: "The Time Will Tell" is really a passionate release. And AEONBLACK has come to stay!
