"The Wrong Side of Fame" is the brand new album ADKINS. This hard rocking four piece from Hobart, Tasmania got a sound with some killer riffs and lots of melody and have been building quite the hype as well. The opening track is "See Right Through" and straight away we get a classic rock feel. The song is filled with cool lead guitar parts, a catchy chorus, some nice bass lines here and there and it really sets the tone for what is coming up on the album.
After that we get "Sky Fall" which brings the heavy. This track has a big sound for the chorus and heavy riffin' for its middle section. It even manages to build up and make for an even bigger chorus for its end as well. "Time Waster" is a slower paced song with a soft verse. This song I must say reminds me a little bit of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS. It has a great chorus and a really cool guitar solo and some pretty cool lead guitar work.
While sounding quite uplifting from the start "Wish Upon a Scar" gives a slightly similar sound to some early ALTER BRIDGE. Some nice melodies thrown in, a real heavy middle section and a very fitting guitar solo that just sounds very natural. This is definitely one of my favourites on The Wrong Side of Fame. "Pale White" has a killer intro with its lead guitar sounding very blusey. It quietens down for the verses and jumps back up again for a big chorus. It keeps that same pace but with a heavier guitar for its second verse. We also get a guitar solo that has a lot of feel to it.
A very melodic opening on a clean sounding electric guitar, "Temporary" is a song where its chorus has a lot of emotion behind it. It has a heavy middle section and those shout along vocals. I must say I did really like the clean electric guitar lines on this song.
Last song on the album is "Tenth" and here the band are going out with a bang. With the verses you can hear its building to something and then we get big sounding sections after that. This song has some solid rhythm playing and some cool lead guitar lines. Great way to close things off on the album. "The Wrong Side of Fame" is a fun album from ADKINS. Filled with dirty rock tones, killer sounding riffs and very catchy sections. It's the kind of album you listen to while in the car cruising down the motor way and has some very radio friendly hit. This is a really enjoyable album.
