Sinister Resurrection of the Morbid
Adetar

Bloody Hell, this does take me back some years, or should I say eons? I remember ADETAR from the early nineties, as they hail from Enschede in my home country, and I not only saw them live, I also booked them at our youth centre at the time. And to top it all, I actually have the first demo that is being played on "Sinister Resurrection of the Morbid". Because that is what this is, a compilation of their two demos, "The World Is Damned" from 1991 and "Death Deified" from 199r. As an extra the record company Vic Records have added six live songs, 4 from 1990 and two from 1992. The eight songs of the demos were also on the 2015 compilation "Sinister Resurrection of the Morbid Necrotzar", but with the intros to both demos mentioned separately and without the live recordings.
So what can you expect? Well, first of all, this is pure Death Metal, even though you will hear Doom Metal speeds from time to time. What strikes me when listening to the "Death Deified" demo is that I am amazed at how good the sound is on those tracks. Plus the band had grown since their first demo, and all four of the songs are really, really good. The guitar riffs as well as the drumming rhythms and pounding bass are all on equal terms, and when the vocals are added you can only wonder why no record company picked these guys up in 1992. The switch to "The World Is Damned" as a demo is quite big, at least in sound. Theis sounds a lot darker, a lot less open and inviting. But when you get further, you do realise that right from the start these ADETAR was able to write very good music and play what they produced accordingly.
Let's go to the live songs, as they are a real indicator at how good ADETAR was right from the start. The1990 ones come from the soundboard, and have been adapted, but it's not perfect. The vocals on these tunes are much too loud in the mix, but the recordings do give you an inkling at how impressive and intense ADETAR sounded when playing live. The two 1992 live tracks are from someone in the audience, and give off a more bootleg vibe, whilst still giving you an insight into what ADETAR stood for. I for one am therefore very happy that they have been added to the setlist for this "Sinister Resurrection of the Morbid" record.
