Sanctus Ignis

Here we have a very good guitar player from France who gathered a few good musicians and he made a fine Power Metal album. So simple! His name is Stephan Forté and I have to say that he really surprised me. However I don't like the fact that he sounds a lot like Malmsteen from times to times but he has also personal touches on his style.
I guess you want to know who the other musicians are? OK let's go! David Readman on the vocals (Pink Cream 69), Richard Anderson on keyboards (Majestic), Dirk Bruineberg of Elegy on the drums and Franck Hermany on the bass. With so many good musicians by his side this magnificent French guitar player couldn't fail. These guys play something that I would describe as neoclassic progressive Power Metal. It has some classic metal elements but at the same time it sounds pretty fresh and of course heavy. They mix all these things very nice and if you are into Power Metal you can't afford to miss this album. Of course I have to mention that these guys have A LOT influences from Classical music and that's really great. From times to times they tend to sound like normal Power Metal bands (Like Stratovarius for e.g.) but all those Classical music elements make this band pretty original in comparison with other Power Metal bands and that's why I'm thumps up!
Do you like Power Metal? You'll probably love this album. The guitar and the keyboard work are awesome the production is killer (by Dennis Ward) the songs are tight, melodic yet heavy and everything is fine!
PS: The CD also contains a cover of Led Zeppelin's 'Immigrant Song'. Nice effort!
