Dealers Of Doom

Somehow German Metalcore bands have the real ability to sound so angry that you feel that they are in danger of coughing out their intestines in the process. This is certainly the case with ACCVSED from Wiesbaden, who have deemed it time to try and through us off our normal behaviour and disturb the peace and quiet with their debut album “Dealers Of Doom”.

After forming in 2021 the only pieces of proof of life they have thrown at us before were two EP’s, “House Of Doubt” (2023) and “Don’t Let Me Fall Apart” (2025). And as the Metalcore that ACCVSED is shoving through my speakers is so intense I for one am glad that “Dealers Of Doom” is just under 34 minutes in length.

What I can tell you is that in sound they remind me of another Germen Metalcore band, UNPROCESSED, with the big difference being that ACCVSED is a little less bass guitar oriented, and have more of a Thrash Metal approach to their songwriting. Before you misunderstand me, this is Metalcore first and Metalcore last, but the Metal part in the name is as important as you could and/or would expect. And as for the band founder and main shouter, Tino Mehlig, he does know how to use his voice to prepare for maximum impact. His lyrics go right through you, know how to reach you in the most impressive way. What he is singing/shouting doesn’t matter one bit; he is getting to you one way or other. Even when he decides to use his clean voice he sounds just as you would hope he does.

Musically the band’s instrumentalists easily accompanies him on his aggressive journeys, but also know when to take it all down a notch when needed. That doesn’t happen often, I admit, but when it happens, it also fits. All this makes it rather easy to review “Dealers Of Doom”. But although everything sounds as I like, I am missing one ingredient that would make ACCVSED come one step higher than average, and that is brilliant songs. Nothing on “Dealers Of Doom” will be classed as under par, but neither will they be seen as outstanding. And that is something that the band needs to work on, because I feel that if they get that right they will be an unstoppable force. Until then I am more than happy to listen and enjoy what ACCVSED have brought me on their debut album “Dealers Of Doom”.
