Modern genres of Metal are deeply attractive for teenagers, but the older ones prefer to despise these genres. Above any opinion and musical taste, bands as SLIPKNOT, LINKIN' PARK, KILLSWITCH ENGAGE, SOULFLY and others are the next step, the new generation. This writer knows because it was the same thing during the 80's and 90's (the conflicts between the generations always existed). So the North American quintet A KILLERS CONFESSION has to proove that they can reach the level of the veterans, a responsibility that rests on "The Indifference of Good Men".

Their music is a different and personal view of Nu Metal/Alternative Metal, but the use of charming accessible melodies makes their music tasteful for younger Metal fans, those who are into modern Metal genres. The elements that can be heard on their music (as musical groove, some influences from Industrial Rock, the contrast between melodic voices with nasty screams) are already known, but they use it on a personal way, and even the use of some elements that can be heard on "Metallica" (the vocal lines on the aggressive moments of "Numb" are a good example of this aspect). So their musical work can't be said as new, but it's truly good.

The sound production of "The Indifference of Good Men" is really excellent, because all sounds clean and in a way that anyone can understand what is being played. The secret: the use of modern Metal playing with instrumental tunes that aren't as greasy as Modern Metal bands use extensively. Yep, it's good and fits on their musical work. The accessible insight used on "Numb" (wise contrasts between calm moments with an aggressive chorus), the Hip-Hop sequences heard on "Trust Me", the powerful bitter ballad "Angel on the Outside" (an excellent song, with very good vocals), the chaotic and charming "Cocaine", the insane New Metal feeling that permeates "One Step", the abrasive groove with some clean parts heard during "I Wish", and the brutal insight used on "H.C. Tits" are the album's finest moments.

Although A KILLERS CONFESSION has more musical potential to be transformed into music, of "The Indifference of Good Men" is really a good release for fans of modern Metal genres.
