Sons and daughters, nephews and nieces of mine, this is one of the best shows I ever seen in my 31 years of Metal. Besides the public was not so good as we all could expect, Warrel Dane had done an excellent and great show, the first one from his actual Brazilian Tour.
The weather is hot, but not as hot as in Brazilian summer, and the public start to gather in front of
Teatro Odisséia a little after 18 O'clock. At 20 O'clock, they started to enter the venue, for the ones who would be on meet and greet with
Warrel. And the reaction of any to be in front of him was astonishment, but soon they realize that he is a kind person, humble and funny, making jokes all the time, and one of them was when signed CDs and DVDs, and a friend of Ol'
Daddy surprised
Warrel, for he has a copy from
SANCTUARY's EP
"Into the Mirror Live / Black Reflections", very rare, and even
Warrel doesn't have one copy himself, as he confessed to us, and a lot of laughs were heard.
And then, some minutes after 21 O'clock, the Brazilian musicians that were chosen to form the band to support Warrel Dane on Brazilian tour came to the stage. Thiago Oliveira (guitarist from SEVENTH SEAL), Johnny Moraes (guitarist from HEVILAN), Fábio Carito (bassist from SHADOWSIDE and SUPREMA) and Marcus Dotta (drummer from SKIN CULTURE), and my dear sons and daughters, if someone missed members from NEVERMORE or SANCTUARY, it's a none just complain. They play hard, heavy and as loud as Hell, and with the same technique from old Warrel's partners! And above the stage, these four maniacs really don't stay at the same place much time, as well as they help to incite the public.
And they incited the people inside the venue, calling for
Warrel, who finally came to the stage and started the show with the double heavy kick in the face
"Narcosynthesis" and
"Inside Four Walls". But unfortunately, Johnny's equipment had some problems and he had to left the stage, but only for two or three songs, and
Thiago showed to us all that he could do the work a bit without his 7-strings comrade. And they played another
NEVERMORE songs, as
"The Seven Tongues of God",
"Enemies of Reality" e the explosive
"Poison Godmachine". The public went crazy, and the slam dancing appeared many times on the venue.
On the stage, nothing more is needed to say about Warrel Dane than "perfect". His voice still the same from NEVERMORE times, as well as he is a great frontman, talking and joking with the public (he is extremely hear tendered and loves to enjoy his time with the public!), and this interaction was astonishing!
The most interesting feature about the show was the great number of die-hard Metal fans, asking for old
SANCTUARY songs, and he really teased every one of them, but was only joking for he played some old classics, as well some songs from his solo album, as
"When We Pray" and the wonderful
"Brother", and after this, he talked about his life, touching everybody on the venue, but when they played
"The Heart Collector", all public sang along with him, and a lot of them were crying, even a great friend of mine, remembering his father. But even teasing when people asked for
SANCTUARY songs, they played hymns like
"Battle Angels" (I barely could speak after this one),
"Epitath",
"Taste Revenge", and of course,
"Future Tense" (my neck aches since this day. To be 43 years old have these problems, hehehe).
A wonderful show, a great band, so all that's left to say is to thank Warrel Dane and the band, the Tour Manager, to Blog'n'Roll Produções, and to Teatro Odisséia for another fine event. And April has more events to come
