Well, the night was with very good weather (not too hot, and nor cold), and Lapa was full of people (it's the most bohemian district on Rio de Janeiro city), and as well, Circo Voador gathered a very good public for the legendary band MISFITS, one of the pioneers of the "Horror Rock" and a seminal band for American Punk Rock. And they got Brazilian Thrashers WISHCRAFTT as opening act.

The venue was with a good public (not all of them. In Rio de Janeiro, people have the strange mania to enter only when the principal band is playing… What a waste!) at 8 o'clock PM, when WISHCRAFTT entered the stage and started their show.

The band has a good technique, shows good communication with the public, and played for almost half an hour, with a good set of songs, all coming from their first album, "Wishcraftt" and the soon-to-be-released "The Law of Love", having a firm music, heavy and aggressive, but need to focus their musical influences. Many time, these pirates (yes, they use a lyrical approach on pirates) sound like PANTERA, other times like TESTAMENT and METALLICA, and another ones with some New Metal more aggressive bands as SOULFLY. Of course their music is good, but needs to have a clear direction. But the public (a great part composed by teenagers) had a good time with their show. Unfortunately, we had no access to their setlist, besides only "Metal is the Law" is the one I remember the name of the nine songs they played, but it is a band that deserves a careful hearing.

And then, after a little time to prepare the stage, and so Jerry (MISFITS's bassist and vocalist, as well the only original member left on the band) passed and accomplished the public with a lot of sympathy and humor, and so the venue starts to gather more and more people inside. And so on, MISFITS entered the stage, playing "The Devil's Rain" and "Vivid Red", from their last studio album, "The Devil's Rain". Of course people enjoyed them, but when the band played classics as "Scream!" and "Teenagers from Mars", insanity reigns with a lot of slamdancing and some stagedives (who were stopped by the security men from Circo Voador).

Some can question if this is really MISFITS, but if you read about the band's history, they had many lineup changes throughout the years, so they're really MISFITS, no matter many can say. Jerry Only shows himself a great frontman, singing, playing his bass guitar, talking with the public in very charismatic form, and Dez Cadena does his part on his guitars and backing vocals. Eric "Chupacabra" Arce is a good drummer, and perfect like a clock (don't get the wrong idea. Playing Punk Rock needs a lot of tempo control, mind you all).

Of course, nothing was perfect, as there were some problems with the sound, and the guitar remained in a rather low volume during the entire show, for more the sound technicians tried to do something but nothing really worked as they would have wanted.

But the band doesn't let this problem get on their nerves, and played more and more, without losing the temper, and more classics as "Curse of the Mummy's Hand", "Father", "Jack the Ripper" (with Dez on vocals), "Static Age" and "She" were heard, with public singing along. And the most charming moment was when a young fan (Big Daddy here thinks he is only 10 or 11 years old) was pushed to the stage by Jerry and sang "Skulls" along the band. And the young one really knew the lyrics, not kidding (and I meant no joke, please)!

Oh, by the way, the public asked for some songs, and the band attended, as "Don't Open 'Til Doomsday" and "Return of the Fly", and Dez sang other songs, as "The Forbidden Zone" and "Thirsty and Miserable" (a BLACK FLAG cover), and the show ended with the classics "Die, Die, my Darling" and "Halloween".

Of course we hoped for some more songs as "Last Caress" and "Green Hell", but after an overdose like that, can anyone really complain?

Of course not. A very good event, so let's keep on going.
