Well, since Kansas City didn't get the 'Metal Masters' tour with HEAVEN AND HELL, MOTORHEAD, and TESTAMENT just JUDAS PRIEST playing a local radio show will have to due. The occasion was our local rock station KQRC 98.9 was celebrating the 15th anniversary of their morning show being on the air. I must say that the morning show is great, but I have some complaints about the concert for the evening.

First complaint is that FEDERATION OF HORSEPOWER always plays these fests that the radio station does and the only reason they play at least I think is because one of the band members works for the station. I just don't think they are anything really special. Second, DROWNING POOL playing on the same stage as JUDAS FUCKING PRIEST is just ridiculous. PRIEST are legends and DROWNING POOL are Nu-Metal garbage.

JACKYL were up next and they were pretty good, but it is the same show every time I see them. Not to mention like FEDERATION OF HORSEPOWER they always play the radio station fests. Finally hours after arriving JUDAS PRIEST took the stage and opened with Prophecy and of course in my dumbass of a town not more then 50 people knew the track because it wasn't a radio single. I thought the song rocked, but I thought Rob should have moved off this riser he came out on. He was just kind of doing some weird movements with a staff like one Nostradamus would have had perhaps along with a shiny black cape.

They played all the hits Hell Bent For Leather, Painkiller, You ve Got Another Thing Comin', and Breakin' The Law. They also threw in some other favorites like Eat Me Alive and Electric Eye. My final complaint about the show was the lack of Judas Rising, but that's overlookable compared to the abominations that opened for these legends. As far as the performance is concerned the band was on point lots of movement and crowd interaction with just the right amount of banter in between songs from Rob. For my first time seeing JUDAS PRIEST it was a good show, but not a great show. I look forward to maybe seeing them play all of Nostradamus this fall when they are on tour.
