After last night's electrified show at Club 22, it was time for a very special live. I dragged my sorry ass down to the center of Athens in order to witness Jeff's acoustic set at the Underworld Club. Now, acoustic sets are something not that common here in Greece so this was a good chance to listen to some of my favorite songs striped out of electricity. Having in mind last night's performance, I knew that Soto would play a lot of cover songs but how many I wasn't sure. The gig started with an hour almost of delay. However that didn't seem to affect the (quite many I admit) fans of Soto who patiently filled the quite unorthodox surrounding of the Underworld Club. (Underworld is a club dedicated to dark / electro / e.t.c. kind of "music" - yeah right - with a relevant interior decoration. So imagine how "weird" the whole set looked with all those happy people wearing Bon Jovi and Twisted Sister T-Shirts in there!!!) and got ready to PA-PA-PARTY. From the moment JSS hit the stage, he played like a hundred (nah, just kiddin') songs. Some of them are listed bellow in no particular order, some of them were parts of medleys, I'm sure I lost a couple somewhere down the road and I am not really sure about a couple of cover songs' titles. Sorry! Check it out… 01. Mysterious 02. Eyes Of Love 03. Crazy Little Thing Called Love (Queen cover) 04. Crazy (Seal cover) 05. Soul Divine 06. Just Between Us 07. Long Train Runnin' (Doobie Brothers cover) 08. Bring Me Down 09. Purple Rain (Prince cover) 10. Send Her My Love (Journey cover) 11. If This Is The End 12. Cheyenne 13. I'll Be Waiting 14. Livin' On A Prayer (Bon Jovi cover) 15. We're Not Gonna Take It (Twisted Sister cover) 16. Highway To Hell (AC_DC cover) 17. Slide It In (Whitesnake cover0 18. Hotel California (The Eagles cover) During his presence on stage for almost one and a half hour Jeff was in constant touch with the audience, made fun, talked all the time, generally managed to entertain (like only a few can) all his friends that night. I recall a couple of taglines: Soto: "I've notice that you people don't know the songs from the new album. Some reporters told me it's hard to be found here in Greece. So do the right thing – download it!" Soto: "Ok, one more for you, I will play one more since this is the first time. But next time try not to be so greedy!" Soto "You people smoke a lot (imitating a fan with a harsh throat) - I am twenty years old and I smoke the last fourteen years!" Soto: "Damn it's getting hot in here!" Soto while finishing the cover of "Long Train Running": "Hey that sounds like King Diamond!" I could go on forever but I will never manage to capture the vibe of that evening. I really hope to see such shows more often in the future here in Greece. Epic hails (haha) to Eleni for finding more than half of the songs I mentioned above (damn girl! You are good!)
