Upon learning that HERMANO will visit my town for one live performance, I was rubbing my hands with pleasure. I never had the chance to see KYUSS playing live, and John Garcia decided to fulfill a part of my dream by playing with his own Heavy Rock vehicle. At first, I thought that only a few people would attend the gig, but it seems that 350-400 metalheads and rockers were there to sing along and create a more than just heavy atmosphere. After drinking 1-2 beers, I decided to enjoy the live as I should enjoy it...
The band that was called to handle the crowd and warm it up was the Greek PLANET OF ZEUS, a band I knew and I really loved since its music is straight in your face Stoner_Southern Metal, which resembles to bands like DOWN and CLUTCH. The band offered us many songs from their upcoming debut album Eleven The Hard Way, and I really banged my fucking head with awesome and heavy tuned like Supernothing (I really love this song) and Woke Up Dead. The band played for about 30-35 minutes, with really good sound for a support band and especially in Greece, and from what I saw, the audience had positive reactions. I think that PLANET OF ZEUS managed to earn the crowd's love, and they definitely have some more fans after this live. A great choice to open the show.
It was 21:35 and it was about time... The music from the dj stopped and HERMANO's members got on stage one by one. The last one to hit the stage was the high and mighty John Garcia, whom the crowd praised like a god! HERMANO seemed to be full of energy, something that was obvious from the two guitarists that never stopped interacting with the crowd and making the night even more magical for every single one that attended the show. Unfortunately, the sound was not that good in the first half of HERMANO;s set list, since the guitars was in the back. Small problem, though for a band that plays stoner rock. With a set list that satisfied even the most demanding fans, the US rockers delivered approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes of pure Heavy Rock. I would also like to add that several beautiful presences and a sweet scent from some cigarettes almost drove my eyes away from the scene, but with the help of one more beer and my friend Harry, I managed to remain calm and headbang with the HERMANO tunes.
Not THE best live I've ever seen, but it was one of those nights that anyone will have many things to remember. Nice tunes, lots of beer, beautiful girls and people that people that had a great time. And as far as I could see, so did the two bands. As I said earlier, I didn't expect to see more than 200 metalheads and rockers at Gagarin. Fortunately, I was wrong. Hope to see more gigs like this one in our city. Rock on!
