Exodus, Hatefulmurder at Circo Voador (2014)
Circo Voador (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil)
Exodus, Hatefulmurder
As the show date was on a Sunday, the show began earlier than usual, about 7 o'clock, with HATEFULMURDER entering the stage and unleashing a violent show, besides the greater part of public stayed outside of the venue, drinking (Big Daddy here will never understand the idea of many people of paying to see many bands and only entering to see one...).
Their set was based on songs from their first album, "No Peace", as the violent "Gates of Despair", the powerful "Worshipers of Hatred" and charming "Scars to God", as well as their abrasive version for BLACK SABBATH's "N.I.B.", where Felipe's interpretation is at its finest (maybe Ozzy would sing like him, if he was an extreme Metal singer). The public in the venue received them as heroes, applauded and slam danced a lot.
Setlist:
1. Intro
2. No Peace
3. Gates of Despair
4. Caught by The Arms of Death
5. Black Chapter
6. Worshipers of Hatred
7. Fear my Wrath
8. N.I.B (Black Sabbath)
9. Scars To God
Then, a little time for drinking water, breath and rest, for the masters of violence was about to come to the stage, and the great expectative was about the return of Steve "Zetro" Souza to the vocals.
And the Thrash Metal slaughters came to the stage. Finally, EXODUS came to the stage, and set the beast free!
"Zetro" Souza is definitively THE vocalist for the band (with all respect to Rob Dukes and Paul Baloff). He has an excellent attitude on stage, talks a lot with the public as well as make some jokes (the moment he was to announce a song, and Gary corrected him was extremely funny). The legendary Gary Holt (guitars), along with Lee Altus (guitars), are a massive wall of violent and great riffs, and very technical solos, both with good attitude on stage (Gary seemed happy like a child on the stage, I must say). Jack Gibson (bass) moves a lot on the stage, playing his 4-strings strongly and bold. And Tom Hunting (drums) is perfect in his playing, making a strong rhythmic basis, as he shows a lot of sympathy.
Insanity reigned!
Even Big Daddy entered the mosh pit on songs like "And Then There Were None", "Metal Command", and the hymn to insanity and truculence "Fabulous Disaster". A perfect synergy between the band and the public occurred in a perfect level, as classics as "Piranha", "Pleasures of the Flesh" and "A Lesson in Violence" were played along with massive killing songs as "Blacklist" and "War Is My Shepherd".
Tired?
Of course we were, but the lethal dose of adrenaline was given by them to us on "The Toxic Waltz" and they ended with "Strike of the Beast", with the slam dancing becoming totally insane on this song. It's an EXODUS show!
The show was over, but they all thanked a lot for the reception, with Gary, "Zetro", Lee, Jack and Tom showing that they are humble and fine guys.
An excellent show, and thanks a lot to Blog'n Roll Produções (for bringing the band to the city and producing the event), to 8X8 Live (for bringing EXODUS to Brazil), to Circo Voador (for having its doors opened to Metal), and to excellent public who was there.
