After some days of nice and soft weather, the city of Rio de Janeiro turns into a day of hell, maybe for
BRUJERIA was on the city, making a show. But the weather didn't make the public go away, and
Teatro Odisséia was really full as you Ol'
Big Daddy here saw a few times.
Unfortunately, EVIL INSIDE, due some technical problems, couldn't play, and it was a pity. They really have a good work, so we hope to show it to you all in a near future. It's a promise of the ol' man here.
So, having more time to play, CONFRONTO came up to the stage, and set the public on fire. The quartet was coming back to Brazil after some shows on Europe to promote their newest album, "Imortal", so they were at full gas, spreading their social chaos to every side without mercy. Playing a set mixing old classics with newer songs, the public (not so good as could be, if everyone were inside the house) starting riots and slam dancing took the place, for CONFRONTO music is an abrasive and angered mix between some Crossover aspects with Beatdown HC, with a not so fast form of doing music, but it bleeds adrenaline and energy in great overdoses. Felipe Chehuan is indeed a great vocalist and frontman, having the public in his hands (besides the stage's space was diminishing due BRUJERIA's sound equipment), as the bassist Eduardo didn't stop banging his head. Max (guitars) spread insane guitar riffs and Felipe (the drummer) displayed a good and violent technique. Songs like "Imortal", "Revolução", "Meu Inferno" (where the band dedicated to Baixada Fluminense, their land of origin, a very violent region from Rio De Janeiro). But when they played "Santuário das Almas", the slam dancing couldn't be stopped, and as their show was ending, Felipe Chehuan thanked everyone, and stage dived to join the public. Memorable show, indeed!

So, after some time of waiting (everyone deserves some water and a rapid WC visit, I think),
"Verga del Brujo" starts to sound, so everyone could understand that
BRUJERIA was going to step on the stage, and so they came, and conquered the house as well.
On 2007, their first show in the vicinities was very bad (poor sound quality, one of the worst places for a Metal show that your Ol' Big Daddy here saw in his life, hot as hell and with no water to drink or to simply wash hands and face), they came in a very good mood, and started with "El Desmadre" and "Colas de Rata", and the audience started the slam dancing, attending the band's music request.
El Fantasma and
Juan Brujo, besides the heavy weight of their as Mexican drug lords, showed great sympathy with the public, speaking and treating us all with respect (calling us all "cabrones", a Spanish word for "bastards", that would sound like "motherfucker" that some European bands use), speaking about Gracie family (famous for MMA and Jiu Jistu) as
A.K. and
Hongo were shooting dense guitar riffs,
El Cynico showing good presence on stage, moving as he played his distorted bass guitar, with the heavy drums of
El Podrido. And please, everyone knew that these three ones are, in reality,
Shane Embury,
Jeff Walker and
Nicholas Barker.
"Colas de Rata", "No Aceptan Imitaciones", "Cuiden a los Niños", "Brujerizmo", "Anti-Castro", "Pito Wilson", and obviously, the classic "Matando Güeros" put the public in ecstasy. And closing the show, they put the parody "Marijuana" to play, as Juan Brujo and El Fantasma were greeting the public as the other members left the stage. A show to stay in our minds for a long time, and we hope that BRUJERIA record and release their new album as soon as possible!

Oh, yes, one kind memory: on 2007 disastrous show, a wise guy stole
El Cynico's hat which was very precious to him. And this writer thought at that time that the band would never come back to Rio de Janeiro again. But a girl called Ana recovered it from the asshole, gave back to him some time ago, and she was the specially invited for this show. And she was called to go to the stage, where
El Fantasma praised her and thanked in front of us all.
There was, as well, a boycott promoted by some Black Metal fans, accusing one of the two opening bands to be a White Metal band. Your Ol' Big Daddy investigated and saw nothing in none of their works of that nature, so please, guard your own creeds to yourselves. Don't bring it to Metal and cause troubles. But even with this incident, the house was full.
And the ones complaining about the beer (the house couldn't sell it. There were many fans below of the age here in Brazil, which is 18. And our Federal Law demands that events with people below 18 years can't buy alcoholic drinks), please, do you really need drinks to enjoy a Metal show? I believe that you don't…
