Ancient's plans to take over the world (and the underworld of course) with their blackest Heavy Metal wrath came true at the Underworld Club on that bloody Sunday of October! They are well known for creating a stormy show every time they do extensive touring and always give impressive live shows around every corner of the globe. Beware their night visit next time! Along with them on their journey to prove that heaven is actually falling, they were assisted by the extreme Black Metal freaks Crossover as well as Insidius Infernus.
Insidius Infernus, a devoted Black Metal, sharp edged band opened the concert with their fierce Norwegian Dartkhrone mostly type of Black Metal. They were co-fronted by a female and male vocal destruction machine and they performed with passion and dedication. If the sound had been more carefully engineered for them, they would have definitely achieved a perfect and spotless live performance.
The Crossover banner welcomed us to the world of the unholy Black metallers from Alexandroupoli. These guys simply dominate! With their unholy attitude and true Rock 'N' Roll performance, they managed to engage us in a true Heavy Metal situation. Highlights of their performance were "Back To Misery", "In The Name Of Blood" plus a devastating cover of Rotting Christ's "Sign Of Evil Existence". At the end of the show, the bassist – vocalist – performer – necromancer broke his bass in a Who attitude! Finally I got to admit one thing for sure, Alexandroupoli and its Metal devotees and representatives definitely Rock and rule! We will be anxiously be expecting you back in Athens soon, my friends!
…but now after Crossover had ceased their attack, it was time for the ancient evil to strike back! Ancient were originally a solo project of guitarist and composer Aphazel, formed in Norway, in 1992. As always, the band offered a good variety of songs, which resulted in a live show which was really hard to get bored of. Aphazel handling both the guitars and vocals did a pretty neat job. They managed to present us their atmospheric and dark Black Metal in a night of mystery. Their set had all their Black Metal classics which would definitely satisfy even their most diehard fans. Their style comprises elements of aggression, heavy shit, technicality plus power and a good amount of melodic and atmospheric parts. They were generally in a good mood even tough the small amount of Black Metal freaks was not more than 80 wolf headed unholy people. They played with passion and unholy dedication to the genre. Ancient's lineup also includes the extra unholy Aleister who added many interesting technical parts with his guitar playing. They based the show mostly on albums such as "Trolltaar" and "Night Visit". Needless to say that Crossover never ceased headbanging and stage diving throughout Ancient's performance.
