After watching the formula 1 Grand Prix at Monaco where unfortunately Ferrari didn't go that well and after cursing about the result, I went to Underworld Club in order to see those three bands, with my friend Nick.
Most of the live shows here in Greece, are starting with a big delay. Well this one, fortunately, started on time! It wasn't the first time that I was going to see MORTAL TORMENT live, so I knew what to expect from this Athenian band. Once again they bombarded us with their Death Metal. The crowd, not more than 70 people, in the club at that time, seamed that had a good time. The sound was quite good for taking into account the club's standards. They ended their set list with a cover from DYING FETUS, Grotesque Impalement and a new song called Amphetamine Murder. Most of their compositions are very nice with good ideas as far as the guitars care concerned. As for Rita's voice, I'm sure that is much better than some guys have. Another good show from the band, that deserved and got, the applause from everyone in the club.
After ten minutes, it was time for VULNUS. They played for about twenty minutes and their fans, who I think, came just to see them, had a great time. The band had some sound problems during the first two songs and their on stage appearance wasn't something great. On the other hand they were an excellent excuse for some mosh pits. Ok, I didn't like their set, but since their fans had a good time, I rest my case.
It was time for the headliners to hot the stage. With tremendous energy from all the members of the band, ABORTED gave their best for the 150, more or less, metalheads. They played songs covering almost all their albums, leaving totally outside their debut. They also did a new song called Enterrement Of An Idol. Oddly enough, the sound was good and the fans of the band had a great time. Sven was spiting the lyrics and the crowd in the front rows were headbanging most of the time. Even though, I wasn't a big fan of the band, this concert made me like them. ABORTED is an energetic band, with nice songs that make it almost impossible to just stand and watch.
It was almost 23:30 when they ended their show. All the band members were friendly and they came down from the stage to meet the fans and have one or two words with them. It was a nice show from all three bands and I think that, if not everyone, most of us left the club after having a good time. Clue of the night for me, since I'm a big fan, the Happy Tree Friends T-shirt that Sven wore!
